PalmaThe President of the Government, Marga Prohens, defended this Tuesday the amendment that the PP incorporated into the Omnibus Law, and which will allow legal entities to acquire housing at a set pricelegal entities can acquire housing at a fixed price

During the control session in Parliament, the head of the Executive responded in this way to the spokesperson for the socialist group, Iago Negueruela, who reproached her that the measure benefits these vulture funds. "Explain to a worker that you prefer a vulture fund to buy a subsidized housing unit for 180,000 euros," she said. The text of the Omnibus Law establishes that "legal entities that exclusively use these housing units for rent, subject to the requirements provided for in this decree, may acquire subsidized housing units," in reference to affordable rent.

Prohens replied, insisting that the measure allows subsidized housing units to now "be rented under the same conditions as limited-price housing units," she said, and added that a minimum of five years of legal residency will be required to access them. "There is no turning back, stop deceiving," said the president.

"Pedro Sánchez has carried out 140 tax increases"

During the control session, the head of the Executive also committed to lowering a regional tax for each tax increase by the Spanish government. "Pedro Sánchez has made 140 tax increases since 2018," she denounced.

The president responded this way to a question from the spokesperson for Vox, Manuela Cañadas, about whether the Government shares Brussels' recommendation to increase VAT on bars, restaurants, and hotels from 10% to 21%, which she considered a "robbery." Just this week, MÉS per Mallorca presented a parliamentary text defending this measure. The president responded that the European Commission's report is neither binding nor mandatory, but that she made it clear that her government is against it.
