The baroque cloister of Sant Vicenç Ferrer is undoubtedly the historical monument of greatest cultural value in the city of Manacor. Around noon today, Tuesday, the IES Manacor high school experienced a scare that, thankfully, didn't escalate. All students were evacuated to the courtyard, unable to retrieve their belongings, and classes were suspended. The municipal park will no longer be called the municipal park... or not only that. The Manacor City Council has already decided what name it will give to the space, which in the late 1960s ceased to be the municipal cemetery (which was definitively moved to the current Son Coletes location) to become a recreational area for everyone, where outdoor swimming pools and a multi-purpose building were later built in 1985. In the mid-1980s, the Sant Antoni festival in Manacor was going through a period of uncertainty. The virtues of a festival are measured by the character it manages to instill in those who experience it, whether from within or as spectators.
