The agreement of the PP with Vox to maximize results in the Senate has strained this Tuesday's control session of the Government. President Marga Prohens has sought to distance herself from the far right throughout the legislature, but now, the Balearic PP will have to incorporate a representative of Vox in the second place of the list for the Senate for Mallorca. In exchange, it will not present a list in any of the Balearic Islands. Prohens has defended the agreement by underlining that the PP has not "renounced either its acronyms or its principles", while the spokesperson for the PSIB, Iago Negueruela, responded that "they are the same and will be the same".

After the looting in Barcelona and the riots in Bilbao called by the Blocus group, a protest call appeared this Tuesday in Palma. It has the same signature and, although it presents itself as "peaceful", it warns: "We will loot shops if we are attacked", as reported by Diario de Mallorca. The news has set off alarms in the Government. In the control session at the Parliament, President Marga Prohens labeled the protest as "kale borroka" and demanded that the Spanish government's Delegation have police forces ready to act.

The current mayor of Andratx, Estefania Gonzalvo, will once again lead the Popular Party's candidacy in the municipal elections of May 2027. The local board of the party, which is also presided over by Gonzalvo, has unanimously approved her designation as a candidate. Following the local board's decision, the PP headquarters in Andratx hosted a meeting with members and supporters of the party. The party plans to hold the official presentation event for the candidacy at a later date.

The Palma City Council has postponed the 2027 budget votes for the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) and the Municipal Parking and Projects Society (SMAP) due to Vox's refusal to guarantee their favorable vote. The boards of directors of both municipal companies were scheduled to meet this Monday afternoon to approve the accounts, but were ultimately called off.

Marina Fiscaletti, until now Director General of Social Welfare for the Government, will be number two on the PP's list for the Senate for Mallorca in the general elections on November 29th. The list will be headed by Sebastià Sagreras, as announced this Saturday by the party, which has also confirmed Ramón Sintes as a candidate for the Upper House for Menorca.

The PP spokesperson in the Parliament, Sebastià Sagreras, will head the party's list for the Senate for Mallorca. Sagreras, in addition to being a spokesperson in the Balearic Chamber this legislative term, is the party's coordinator in the Archipelago. He was the mayor of Campos between 2011 and 2019 and in his second term in Parliament he has served as the group's spokesperson.

Happily, the world is diverse, and even in moments of polarization, people of one ideology or another continue to mix more or less without problems. It is for this reason that I am happy to have good friends and family members who are on the right, and when I say this I cannot help but think of those verses from the insuperable ‘Elegy to Salvatore Giuliano’, by Jaume Vidal Alcover, collected in El dolor de cada dia (1957): “if I am not / one of those I speak to you about, / I do not know why I am not, / but son and grandson and brother and even friend, / for I have their blood”. The poem continues, but I will leave it here: this just serves to begin this letter to my friends and family members who are considering voting for the right in the upcoming state elections.

The current first vice-president and Minister of Culture will be number two on the list for the Congress of Deputies, which will be headed by José Vicente Marí Bosó. As ARA Balears has learned, contacts have accelerated this Wednesday to find a woman to assume her responsibilities at the island institution.

The reproaches between the Government and the opposition have been the general tone in the last general policy debate of the legislature. After four and a half hours of bickering between parties without a break in the plenary session, the spokesperson for Més per Menorca, Josep Castells, added a relaxed tone to the equation. Castells delivered a voucher for a lobster stew for two people in Menorca to the president, Marga Prohens. With one condition: that she approves the limitation of vehicle entry to the island before the end of the mandate.

New clash between the Government and Aena. After denouncing a "covert expansion" of Palma airport and taking a stand against an expansion in the Islands, the Executive has rejected the public company's plans to build a photovoltaic park in Son Bonet.

Second session of the general policy debate in which the president, Marga Prohens, has distanced herself from the left and has sought an approach to Vox. After the far-right extended its hand to approve the budgets and govern in exchange for "firmness on immigration and locals first", the head of the Executive has taken up the gauntlet. "25,000 illegal immigrants have arrived on our coasts [in the last five years]," said Prohens, and continued: "Half of the Tramuntana mountain range has arrived by boat to the Balearic Islands".

The Vox spokesperson, Manuela Cañadas, conveyed during the second session of the general policy debate her "full willingness" to negotiate new budgets and, furthermore, to be a partner of the PP in the next legislature. But she did so by placing three conditions on the table. "More deregulation, firmness against illegal immigration and, in aid and housing, locals first," asserted the deputy, who warned the Government that "the extended hand is not a blank check".

PSIB spokesperson Iago Negueruela has kicked off the second session of the general policy debate. After the president, Marga Prohens, announced new tax cuts to facilitate young people's access to housing, the socialist deemed these announcements insufficient and accused her of "wasting three and a half years for society". "She removes taxes for young people, but how much does a house cost? 400,000 euros", he criticized. "How much does a young person earn in these Islands? They cannot pay for a house, live in an apartment, or rent a room", he continued: "This is your track record".

José Vicente Marí Bosó will repeat as head of the PP list for the Congress of Deputies for the Balearic Islands in the general elections on November 29th. The party has confirmed the designation of the president of the PP of Ibiza, who will once again lead the popular party's candidacy in the Balearic constituency.

Pre-election general policy debate marked by housing. As expected, President Marga Prohens has launched several announcements in this line: the most prominent, the elimination of regional taxes for those under 36 and people with disabilities on the purchase of their first home, as well as those on transfers and documented legal acts. And also, fulfilling the opposition's predictions, she has lashed out at the Spanish government over the management of immigration. "Not everyone fits here," she said, and remarked that if direct returns of migrants to Ceuta can be made, "they must also be able to be made to the Islands".

The President of the Government, Marga Prohens, called the general policy debate this Tuesday, the 20th, without much ceremony. While she usually summoned the parliamentary groups to announce the date to them, on this occasion she limited herself to communicating it through a letter addressed to the President of the Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne. Although general policy debates serve to examine the Executive's action, in which it usually announces measures to address structural issues, on this occasion the opposition parties have few expectations due to the fact that the plenary session is too close to the general election campaign.

Virgilio Moreno has been the latest municipal candidate confirmed in Mallorca, after having been elected this past week by unanimity by the socialist group of Inca to head the list for the 2027 municipal elections. Moreno has been the mayor of Inca since June 2015, nearly eleven and a half years ago. He was a candidate for the PSIB-PSOE in 2015, 2019, and 2023, and by heading the list for 2027, it will be the fourth time he has run.

Work is piling up for the parliamentary groups for next week. The President of the Government, Marga Prohens, presented a document this Tuesday to the Parliament in which she proposes October 20th as the date for the general policy debate. It will be the last of the legislature in which the President will report on her Government's actions and it will foreseeably be framed in electoral terms.
