They have also urged the Spanish government delegation to mobilize National Police officers in the same way. However, what the Martínez government does not plan to reinforce is the service of attention, given the avalanche of migrant people who come to the offices since the regularization process began.

The National Police have arrested a man in Palma accused of orchestrating a scam of at least €1.2 million through a complex network of shell companies and bank accounts. The investigation points to a network of some forty shell companies used to carry out fraudulent collections through invoices. The case began to unravel after a bank manager detected significant discrepancies in the processing of direct debit payments. According to the police, within a few months, several clients had opened bank accounts with associated billing and invoice management services. From there, the scheme was repeated: shortly after the accounts were opened, invoices and receipts would arrive. The bank would process the payments and credit the corresponding amounts, but then the money would be transferred to other accounts. When it was later discovered that the invoices were fraudulent and refunds were requested, the accounts were already empty, making it impossible to recover the money. During the investigation, agents verified that the accounts and companies were registered in the names of Bulgarian and Romanian citizens. According to investigators, these individuals were used to create companies and open bank accounts that were then used to channel fraudulent transactions. Police have identified a corporate structure made up of more than forty shell companies which, according to initial estimates, caused financial losses exceeding one million euros. The main suspect has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of fraud, document forgery, and membership in a criminal organization. The investigation remains open, and agents do not rule out further arrests as they locate other possible individuals involved in the network.

This change comes after the crisis triggered by the lawsuit alleging sexual assault, which led to the resignation of the previous head, José Ángel González, on February 17th. Santafé Arnedo previously served as the Chief Superintendent of the National Police in the Balearic Islands, a position he held since July 2022. With this appointment, the Ministry of the Interior places a veteran officer with extensive experience in the Police and recent service in the Balearic Islands at the head of the force's operational structure. The new Deputy Director of Operations joined the force in 1990 and has held various positions within the police organization throughout his career. In recent years, he had been the highest-ranking National Police officer in the archipelago. Following the resignation of José Ángel González, the Deputy Directorate of Operations was temporarily headed by Chief Commissioner Gemma Barroso, Deputy Director General of Human Resources and Training for the National Police. Barroso was also the one who was informed of the complaint filed by a female inspector and who subsequently contacted the complainant to activate police protection measures. With the appointment of Santafé Arnedo, the Ministry of the Interior has provisionally resolved the crisis at the top of the National Police's operational leadership.

Movistar premiered a series about the repressive state police. It's called Riot police And it's quite good; Rodrigo Sorogoyen is a very good director and screenwriter; with this series, he did an excellent job. He portrayed a whole group of individuals who work for the Spanish state security forces and who, when necessary, must put down their batons and attend to whomever the command tells them to. These men weren't extraordinary: they were fallible, weak, sometimes exhibiting all the tendencies of that 'toxic masculinity' that the director had already portrayed in other works of fiction. But thanks to the cinematic vision, you connected with them, you ended up liking them, and you followed the hypothetical story of their corruptibility; ultimately, it validated Hannah Arendt's idea of the 'banality of evil,' which perhaps wasn't applicable to the Nazis, but certainly to 'democratic' security forces that simply enforce the law without asking too many questions, however much this might mean infuriating the public.

The incident occurred on December 22nd in the Indioteria neighborhood, when the victim dropped off a friend with her motorcycle in front of a business. As they said goodbye, a man suddenly jumped in front of him and began punching him. According to the National Police, the victim tried to defend himself by grabbing the assailant's arms, at which point the attacker violently bit his ear, causing severe bleeding that allowed him to flee the scene. Later, the woman explained to the victim that the alleged attacker was her ex-partner, a very jealous person, which may have motivated the attack. The injured man had to be treated at a hospital, where he received 15 stitches in his ear. After he filed a complaint, the West District Investigation Group began an investigation to identify the perpetrator. Finally, officers located the man and arrested him this Tuesday as the suspected perpetrator of an assault.

The animal, rescued from the streets weeks ago, will now participate in educational activities, parades, and other public events. Pancho, as the pony is called, is four years old and was found wandering the streets in a vulnerable state, showing clear signs of stress and disorientation. Since his rescue, he has been at the Son Reus center, where veterinarians and caretakers have provided him with constant attention. From now on, he will live with the other horses of the Mounted Police, based in the Bellver Forest. The professionals discovered that Pancho did not have a microchip, which prevented them from identifying him and locating his owner. Given this situation, the center initiated all the necessary procedures and implemented a care protocol to ensure his physical and emotional recovery.

According to the police, on Sunday at midday, they received a call to 091 alerting them that a man was causing problems for workers and customers at a bar in Vileta. When officers from the Citizen Assistance Group arrived, the individual had already left on an electric scooter. However, several people were able to provide a detailed description of the man, who is known in the neighborhood for his aggressive behavior. Minutes later, another alert reported that an individual was threatening customers and staff at another bar in Son Roca. The officers in Vileta located the man trying to escape and, after a chase, intercepted him. During the escape, the individual had thrown a metal object under a car, which was later confirmed to be the knife he had used to threaten people. Witnesses from the second bar corroborated that the man had threatened them with a metal knife, so he was arrested and brought before a judge for serious threats.

According to a press release from the police force, the Traffic Accident Investigation Unit has opened an investigation into the incident, which occurred in the early hours of January 1st, at approximately 5:15 a.m., on Gabriel Maura Street. A patrol from the Local Police's night unit was called to the scene, where they found three people struggling. According to the taxi driver, the argument began when the couple, who were crossing at a pedestrian crossing, criticized his driving. Later, they insulted him, and the woman began hitting the hood of the vehicle, breaking the taxi's side mirror. When the driver got out of the vehicle, both the man and the woman assaulted him, causing minor injuries to his face and hands. The couple then tried to leave, but the taxi driver detained them until the police arrived. The couple gave conflicting accounts of the events and showed signs of having consumed alcohol. Two eyewitnesses fully corroborated the taxi driver's version of events, and he subsequently filed a formal complaint at the police station. Once the investigation was completed, the couple was informed that they were under investigation, and the Traffic Accident Investigation Unit forwarded the corresponding case file to the competent court.

The incident occurred last Tuesday at approximately 4:40 a.m., when officers from the Citizen Assistance Group, who were carrying out crime prevention duties, spotted a vehicle with Italian license plates driving without lights in the Son Gotleu neighborhood. When the patrol approached the car, which had stopped at a traffic light, they attempted to identify its occupants, and the three individuals inside fled. Faced with this situation, the officers alerted other patrols to assist in the pursuit. The vehicle fled recklessly, disregarding traffic signs, towards Marratxí. Several patrols attempted to block its path without incident, until the car returned to the Son Gotleu neighborhood.

The Balearic School of Public Administration (EBAP) of the Balearic Government has approved the call for applications for the 47th cohort of the Basic Capacity Course for entry into the Local Police force, corresponding to the year 2026, with a total of 222 places. This new edition consolidates a stable and planned training model that allows municipalities to incorporate new officers in a coordinated manner and with a regular training schedule. The resolution was published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) on Saturday, December 6, 2025, and is already in effect, as explained by the Ministry of the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, and Local Cooperation. Of the 222 places, 166 are for Mallorca; 20 for Menorca; and 36 for Ibiza, although this allocation may be adjusted for duly justified reasons. The course will be delivered in a decentralized manner across the three islands, so that candidates will receive training in the territory where they passed the municipal selection process. This organization aims to strengthen the connection between training and the operational realities of each municipality, facilitating local resource planning. The Basic Capacity Course will begin in the second half of January 2026 in Mallorca and in the first half of February in Menorca and Ibiza. The training will consist of two stages, with the goal of providing municipalities with trainee officers during the summer months. During this period, students will complete part of the practical phase in the municipalities and will resume training at the EBAP (Basic School of Public Administration) in September to complete the course. In total, the program includes 825 hours of instruction, which will be delivered in five groups in Mallorca, one in Menorca, and one in Ibiza. Municipalities with ongoing selection processes must submit their application for reserved places within 10 business days of the publication of the call for applications. Simultaneously, the EBAP (Basic School of Public Administration) will automatically register those who passed the 2025 Unified Selection Process and have been assigned a place, provided they do not possess the Basic Competency Course certificate. Those with the certificate will directly begin the practical training phase in their respective municipalities. The resolution reminds municipalities that before the start of the course, they must provide trainee civil servants with the required uniforms and ensure they have a device with an internet connection to participate in online activities. Throughout the course, students will receive the remuneration established by current regulations for their status as trainee civil servants. The EBAP plans to publish the final resolution for the allocation of places in the Unified Process next week, thus completing the necessary planning for municipalities to organize the integration of the new cohorts.

According to the police, the incident occurred at 6:35 a.m., shortly after a patrol from the Coastal District began its shift. The officers observed the vehicle and its occupant and, after conducting the necessary checks, confirmed that the car had been reported stolen. Upon waking and identifying the young man, he claimed he had found the car unlocked. However, several clues pointed to the contrary: the engine was warm, the key was in the ignition, and the vehicle had not been there just minutes before, when the officers had begun their patrol. Furthermore, the police confirmed that the arrested man did not have a driver's license. During the search, they also confiscated a screwdriver, a rubber glove, and a mask.

The individuals responsible, a man and a woman, were arrested for a crime against public health. According to the police, minors frequently visited the location to try to buy drugs. The investigation was launched by the Narcotics Group II following several anonymous tips alerting them to the criminal activity in the neighborhood. Officers confirmed that buyers entered the house and left shortly afterward, and that sales were also being made on the street "by order." During the search, officers seized cash, 2C-B (tusis), and hashish, as well as paraphernalia used to prepare single doses. Three minors also entered the house intending to buy drugs; all three were identified and immediately released to their parents.

Neither the boy nor his mother knew it was a non-school day, the City Council reported in a statement on Sunday. At 9:15 a.m., a citizen alerted the officers after seeing the boy alone inside the school grounds. When the patrol arrived, they found that the playground gate, although locked, opened when pushed. Inside, they found the boy, who explained that, seeing no one else around, he had remembered it wasn't school and had decided to wait for his mother to come back for him. The officers took him to another nearby school where an activity was scheduled. There, with the help of an educational advisor from the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities who knew the family, they contacted the mother by phone. The minor was accompanied at all times by the officers and the school counselor. The mother was later summoned to the East District police station, where she explained that she had left her son at the center and had made sure he entered the premises, as she was unaware that it was not a school day. Once her identity was verified, the police returned the minor to his mother.

The young man is being investigated for his possible connection to the network, according to reports. Daily of Mallorca and confirmed sources close to the case. Investigators suspect he may have alerted several members of the network about imminent police actions, a practice also attributed to his father, a former National Police inspector. According to a statement released by the Local Police, the incident began when a private ambulance was dispatched to attend to a woman with a bleeding head wound and clear signs of alcohol intoxication. According to the complaint filed by the assaulted paramedic, when he attempted to assist the woman inside the ambulance, she unexpectedly punched him in the nose. She then threw medical supplies at the other paramedic, refused further treatment, and left the scene. The victim requested police assistance and went to a medical center, where he was diagnosed with a nasal septum injury. Shortly after, a patrol from the Local Police's Immediate Intervention Unit (UII) was alerted on Argentina Avenue by a taxi driver who claimed that a woman was verbally abusing him because he refused to take her due to her condition. The officers confirmed that it was the same person involved in the assault on the medical personnel. Although a fully equipped ambulance from the 061 emergency service arrived at the scene, the woman again refused assistance. Following the incident and the formal complaint filed by the victim, the corresponding legal proceedings were initiated and have already been sent to the judicial authorities.
