The neighborhood associations of the Passeig Marítim, Santa Catalina and el Jonquet, la Llotja-Born, Pere Garau, and el Terreno demand that Palma City Council toughen restrictions on the night-time sale of alcohol in supermarkets and convenience stores. The entities consider that the actions taken so far "have not been sufficient to prevent the repetition of certain behaviors" and ask the City Council to adopt new measures to limit the activity of establishments that accumulate incidents.

The Santa Catalina and El Jonquet Civic Neighborhood Association has rejected the scheduling of a six-hour street party for the Mare de Déu de la Salut festivities, planned for September 4 between 8 PM and 2 AM, due to what it considers excessive acoustic impact in front of hundreds of homes.

The Ombudsman of Palma, Anna Moilanen, has issued a warning about the paralysis of municipal subsidies: if the situation is not resolved quickly, "it could mean the disappearance of a part of the associative fabric" of the City. The suspension, which is already extending towards the fifth month without a clear resolution timeline, affects "a wide range of activities – educational, sports, cultural, social, and neighborhood – and puts services at risk" which, in some cases, compensate for "shortcomings of the Administration itself", she explained.

The suspension of municipal grants for 2026 in Palma has set off alarm bells among the neighborhood fabric, which denounces a lack of information, legal uncertainty, and a real risk of activities in the neighborhoods grinding to a halt. Associations warn that the situation, linked to an audit by the Court of Auditors of the 2022 grants, not only affects ongoing projects but also casts doubt on the continuity of aid for 2027.

More than 60 residents of Son Sardina met this Tuesday at the neighborhood center to discuss the Government's law that provides for reclassify 3,500 hectares of rural land to build protected housing. The residents of this neighborhood, one of the most affected by this law, have expressed their concern about the urban development project promoted by the PP and Vox parties, which is now in its final stages of parliamentary processing. "It's a disaster," notes one of the residents, Tònia Llabrés, who nevertheless highlights the warm reception the meeting received. "People from other neighborhoods even came to see how we do it, how we organize ourselves, and learn how to do it themselves and gather information," she explains, adding that residents from Secar de la Real, Establiments, La Indioteria, and La Garriga attended.
