The installation of a promotional stand by the airline company Etihad Airways in Palma's Porta Pintada square has forced the Balearic Islands Blood and Tissue Bank this Thursday to move its usual activity to Plaça d'Espanya, a situation that has also altered the institutional event planned for World Blood Donor Day. The company has occupied this space to promote the new direct connection between Abu Dhabi and Mallorca, which will begin operating this Friday, June 12.

The Ombudsman has opened an investigation into the Palma City Council following a complaint filed by Ben Amics, which accuses the Consistory of violating fundamental rights due to the repeated difficulties that, according to the entity, it has placed in organizing the Pride events.

It is the first time that an independent leads a list since MÉS per Mallorca was founded. David Pujol (Palma, 1980) will lead the MÉS per Palma candidacy in the municipal elections of 2027, with Xisca Mir as number two. One of the evicted, Bernardino, a 60-year-old Italian who was evicted, criticized being treated like a drug trafficker and commented to journalists: "Tonight I will sleep on the street, in this park, what a mess."

The drivers of EMT Palma have added new complaints about the state of the fleet and the municipal company's infrastructure following criticism leveled in recent days over the lack of operational vehicles and difficulties in incorporating new electric buses. According to staff sources, among the detected incidents are widespread problems with the air conditioning systems of many older buses. The workers, who have sent their complaints to ARA Balears and requested anonymity, assure that a significant portion of conventional buses are operating with climate control systems in poor condition because those in charge have allegedly not performed the necessary annual recharge.

The Urban Planning Department of the Palma City Council has authorized the license for the construction of 80 limited-price rental homes in the Son Ferragut neighborhood, specifically on plot number 6 of Isabel de Villena street.

The ATAP union (Association of Public Administration Workers) has called for the cessation of temporary assignments for agents of the Drone Unit (UDROP) due to being a fraudulent act. The drivers of EMT Palma denounce a situation of a lack of operational vehicles that, according to them, affects daily service and the municipal company's ability to cover planned reinforcements and frequencies. The workers attribute a large part of the problems to the difficulties in incorporating the 23 new electric buses and to technical incidents in part of the current fleet. These new vehicles are part of the EMT's Strategic Plan 2024-2027, which foresees the incorporation of up to 113 zero-emission vehicles, as announced by the City Council.

MÉS per Mallorca has registered a request in Parliament for the appearance of the Minister of the Sea and the Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, to explain the regulatory changes approved by the Government that allow avoiding or limiting Water Resources reports in certain urban development projects. The initiative comes after ARA Balears revealed that a modification introduced into the Omnibus Law opens the door to exempt some planning from re-certifying water availability.

The MÉS per Palma Primary Commission proclaimed this Tuesday the candidacy led by David Pujol and Xisca Mir to head the party's list in the 2027 Palma municipal elections. The primary process concluded on Monday, when the deadline for submitting candidacies ended, and Pujol and Mir's was the only one registered.

Som Sindicalistes has filed a formal complaint with the Palma City Council due to the persistence of serious deficiencies in the air conditioning systems of five municipal swimming pools, which have been out of order for some time, two years in one case, a situation that affects working conditions. The formal complaint filed by the union with the IME demands the immediate repair of the faulty air conditioning systems and the correction of all deficiencies that prevent maintaining an adequate temperature in the different affected municipal premises.

The human "pocatraça" has no limits and the Palma City Council is a good example of this. It is enough to listen to a plenary session to confirm that the municipal government does not like groups that are on the margins of what it considers a decent society very much. A resident of the old Palma prison has accused the City Council this Thursday of breaking the promises made to the inhabitants and allowing them to continue living "surrounded by rats and garbage". "We were promised something and absolutely nothing has been done," she pointed out during an intervention at this Thursday's municipal plenary session.

The plenary session of the Palma City Council has definitively approved this Thursday the modification of the General Plan to extend the prohibition of new tourist rental places. The modification had the favorable vote, although with criticism, from MÉS and the PSIB.

The Palma City Council will request the courts to carry out the forced eviction of the last 80 people residing in the old prison, after dismissing the allegations presented. This was confirmed by the spokesperson and councilor for Finance, Contracting and Heritage of the Palma City Council, Mercedes Celeste, at the press conference following the Governing Board meeting, in which this new step has been approved to recover possession of the property that was once inhabited by more than 200 people.
