Registered unemployment at the public employment services offices has fallen by 1,972 people in April in the Balearic Islands compared to the previous month (-7.44%) and by 2,080 people compared to the fourth month of last year (-7.81%) and stands at 24,546 unemployed, according to data published this Tuesday by the Ministry of Labour. Affiliation to Social Security has increased by 3.1% year-on-year, with 18,277 more affiliations.

Unemployment has fallen again in the Balearic Islands during the month of March, with 26,518 people unemployed, 821 fewer than in February, representing a 3% drop. Compared to the same month last year, the decrease is even more notable, with 2,338 fewer unemployed, an 8.1% year-on-year reduction.

The Palma City Council, through PalmaActiva, has organized another edition of Employment Month, which will take place from February 16 to March 20. This year, 36 companies are participating, offering 1,253 jobs. As in previous editions, 19 events will be held during this period, with the main objective of directly connecting companies seeking staff with job seekers.

In contrast, households with all members employed reached a new all-time high nationwide, with 12,166,300 homes, after increasing by 262,000 throughout 2025 (+2.2%). In the final quarter of the year, the increase was 128,600 households, 1% more than the previous quarter.

The Balearic Islands are the autonomous community with the highest proportion of workers who claim to have combined more than one job at some point in their careers, accounting for 84% of the total, according to a Randstad report published by the EFE news agency. In second place, and far behind the islands, are Murcia and Navarre, with 63%, while the national average is 58.3%. At the lower end are the Basque Country (52%) and Extremadura (47%).

Registered unemployment fell by 637 people in June in the Balearic Islands compared to the previous month (-2.5%) and stands at 24,722 unemployed. Compared to the same month last year, unemployment also fell by 6.2% (1,647 fewer unemployed), according to data published this Wednesday by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.
