However, Palma City Council maintains that there are no legal grounds to prevent him from obtaining a new concession, as the company that has submitted a bid is different from the one that operated in these municipalities. According to municipal spokesperson Mercedes Celeste, who confirmed the information after the Governing Board meeting, the City Council is aware of the published reports about the businessman and has consulted with the other affected municipalities. According to the information received, the company participating in the Palma tender is not the same one that managed the beaches in Calvià and Son Servera, even though both are reportedly linked to the same individual. The case came to light following a report published this Wednesday by [unclear - possibly "newspaper/newspaper/etc.]" Daily of MallorcaThis indicates that this businessman is vying for the concession to operate four of the five beaches up for tender in the municipality. In the case of Ciutat Jardí, he is the only applicant, which could increase his chances of winning the concession.

The force of the wind and the pounding waves have completely devastated the beaches of Binigaus, Sant Tomàs, and Sant Adeodat, in the municipality of Migjorn Gran, as well as the first stretch of Son Bou (Alaior), the island's longest beach. In the case of Son Bou, the remaining almost two and a half kilometers of coastline are now reduced to just a third of their original dune system. This significant reduction in sand has sparked concern among the affected municipalities just over two months before the official start of the tourist season.

The chapter reveals that the islands' beaches not only suffer a progressive decline in water quality but also endure increasing pressure from both bathers and boats. For the experts of the collaborative research project, it is essential to extend the monitoring of users and vessels to all the islands, as it is currently only carried out in Menorca, with the aim of improving the management of these spaces and guaranteeing both the conservation of marine ecosystems and a safe and satisfactory experience for users. The conclusions indicate that, although the overall values for quality and usage remain within normal parameters, the trend is toward worsening water quality and increased human and nautical pressure.

According to Europa Press, the sea level in the Archipelago will rise more than 30 centimeters by 2050, which will cause a retreat of about 30 meters on several beaches. The rising sea level is influenced due to the increase in water temperature, which has increased by 1.6 degrees in the last four decades.
