The citizen platform 'Mallorca to live, not to speculate' has started a collection of signatures to demand that Palma City Council oppose the application of the Land Acquisition Act in the municipality, approved by the PP and Vox, and prevent "the door from opening to excessive macro-urbanization" of the city. According to the entity in a statement reported by Efe, this new legislation, processed under the declaration of residential emergency, will allow a massive increase in building capacity on rural land, without sufficient planning in terms of public services, such as health centers, transportation, schools and green areas. The platform also criticizes the fact that more power is given to developers for urban development and even that Projects can be approved by administrative silenceThe platform's proponents are urging municipal representatives to use the powers provided by the same law to prevent its application in Palma.

The Establiments neighborhood council held an assembly this past Wednesday to continue organizing opposition to the recently passed Land Liberalization Law, promoted by the PP and Vox parties. Some eighty people, including neighborhood groups and associations, as well as the Palma Residents' Federation and the GOB (Government of the Basque Country), decided to form a platform to organize and unify their opposition to the land liberalization law.

This week, Palma residents began organizing to demonstrate their opposition to the government's law that plans to liberalize thousands of hectares of rural land for housing construction.
