Especially, due to its harshness in the anti-immigration discourse, because the text of the agreement proposes, for the first time, a clause of "national priority" to access public aid or subsidized housing in general. In fact, the two parties have already replicated the formula in Aragon, and are beginning to bring national priority to debate in other institutions, such as Congress or the Balearic Parliament.

After registering a motion in Congress to establish a "national priority" when receiving aid and subsidies, it is beginning to do the same in other territories. The spokesperson for Vox in the Balearic Parliament, Manuela Cañadas, announced this Wednesday that she has registered a non-binding proposal along the same lines. With this move, the far-right once again pulls the PP into its territory, forcing it to pronounce on an issue that makes it uncomfortable, as various popular leaders have already expressed, such as the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

The far-right party has voted against all the amendments presented by the PP, some 80, to the strategic projects law, known as the òmnibus law, during the deliberation of the Committee on Finance and Budgets this Tuesday. The move leaves a package of key measures for the legislature in suspense and is seen as a clear warning from Vox to Marga Prohens' Government. The decision means that several prominent proposals will be blocked or will have to be debated again. Among these amendments are tax reductions to expand the thresholds for the Property Transfer Tax (ITP) bonus, to reduce the tax on Documented Legal Acts (AJD), as well as a 50% reduction in both ITP and AJD for the purchase of limited-price housing.

But in the Balearic Islands, the "series" (as Santiago Abascal defined it) has already finished its seasons. Vox in Menorca is a desert: the party has lost all institutional representation on the island. For six months, the remaining cadres have been trying to rebuild, but they lack people. "We find it hard to find people who want to identify with Vox," admits the party coordinator, Pedro Marqués: "In Menorca, being from Podem is not a problem, but saying you are from Vox still commands respect." All this while the parliamentary group, which has lost three deputies, is diluted under the national leadership of the party. Only in Ibiza has Vox been saved from the fratricidal war. But the PP is so strong in this territory that the far-right is cornered there, as it is in Galicia.

https://en.arabalears.cat/opinion/vox-fleas-bite_129_5701943.html

It should not surprise anyone that the party that has accumulated the most internal crises in the Balearic Islands since the beginning of the legislature (between splits, cross-accusations, and dissenting votes) is now going through its own ordeal at the state level. Let it be known that I do not use this Easter and Christian expression for nothing: what Vox is experiencing these weeks is the explosion of an escalation that its democratic tradition (sic) has precipitated since they began to torpedo the Spanish party map. Who could have imagined that a force so open to reflection, so fond of complexities, so enamored of individual liberties and dialogue would end up sinking on all fronts? Who would have said that the party of bracelets with the flag of the Empire and the 'fachalecos' (perhaps in Catalan we could call them 'fatxapits'...) would end up having serious internal problems due to a lack of debate and consensus? The electoral results in the recent elections in Aragón, Castilla y León, and Extremadura might suggest that the party is in top form, but its internal reality is very different. While the respective regional formations struggle to influence or enter these governments, it seems that numerous militants and founders of the far-right party would be trying to force an extraordinary congress to put an end to Santiago Abascal's leadership (that gentleman who for decades has denounced the vices of the political caste without ever having worked at anything else, yes, the man with chest hair who skipped military service), while, in parallel, the Justice system is investigating two high-ranking party officials accused of revealing secrets. In the Islands, meanwhile, the PSIB a few days ago made yet another attempt to remove Gabriel Le Senne from the position of President of the Parliament, a position he has not been worthy of since the PP granted it to him. They accused him, in fact, of being like his party: contrary to the plurality and neutrality that should mark the exercise of this position and, ultimately, complicit in extending and legitimizing the discourses and values that allow homophobic aggressions like the one suffered a few days ago by a teacher at the IES Baltasar Porcel in Andratx (an aggression that the Parliament has condemned in its entirety, without the vote of Vox). The PP, however, preferred to ignore the socialists' offer and keep in office the one who tore up the portrait of Aurora Picornell, a woman imprisoned, tortured, and murdered by the supporters of a dictatorship that neither the PP nor Vox have ever condemned.A few years ago, following a personal disappointment, a good friend told me that sometimes some people are also fleas, and fleas, as you know... Fleas bite. Thus, it is no surprise that the party that has sown discord and intolerance, those who have stirred up political debate even before having representation in any parliament, are now drinking their own medicine and attacking each other. If it weren't for the pathetic nature of it, it would even be a pleasure to watch.

https://en.arabalears.cat/opinion/the-countdown-begins_129_5694698.html

One year exactly until the end of the term. At the end of March next year, Parliament will be dissolved and elections will be called, and the PProhens-Vox pact will have completed its (first?) cycle.Despite the usual excuses – the fateful previous eight years, the unsupportive state government, the very lengthy preliminary studies...– it is starting to be time to assess the rupture, in case one absurdity has been burying the previous one and now, in Trumpian style, we can only recall the latest massacre. The general stench of the legislature is exasperating. The 2025 budget pact, for example, included the refusal to host immigrant minors from other territories or opposition to the European Green Deal. “Two issues that at no time have been an obstacle to negotiation,” Prohens enthusiastically stressed. The legislature has not been very democratic – neither in dialogue nor social dialogue – nor very scrupulous with procedures, with the abuse of opaque processing, such as amendments to the law on strategic projects, which aim to modify up to 50 laws through the back door. The body of parliamentary lawyers has already unanimously warned about this repeated modus operandi and its possible unconstitutionality.Another attribute of the mandate is the dissonance between the music – freedom, efficiency, streamlining...– and the lyrics: urbanistic amnesty, construction on rustic land, increase in urbanistic development rights, construction in flood-prone areas, privatization of public space...Or between what is said – promoting access to housing, fighting against tourist saturation...– and what is done: failure of secure rental programs and the Anti-squatting Office, refusal to limit rental cars and to increase the eco-tax, permissiveness with illegal tourist rentals...It has also been the legislature of euphemisms. See the emergency glossary: ‘freeing up land’, ‘paving the outskirts’; ‘boosting the economy’, ‘benefiting speculators’; ‘freedom’, ‘privileges of the elites’; ‘simplifying’, ‘eliminating controls and guarantees’; ‘accelerating procedures’, ‘outsourcing the Administration’...The educational legislature has been marked by the fiasco of the pilot plan – a stratagem to inject 21 million euros annually into 19 subsidized centers in exchange for violating the spirit of the linguistic regulations – and by the contradiction between what is said – the improbable creation of 77 new educational centers and an aerostatic ‘City of Arts’ is announced – and what is done – dismantling of IES Politècnic and CEIP Felip Bauçà, 3rd line in CEIP de Pràctiques...The Conselleria has clearly opted for educational privatization: private vocational training, subsidized 0-3 year olds and baccalaureate programs, diversion of students to subsidized schools, new private universities, complicity with employers... And for school segregation with the introduction of a single school zone and points per former student, which secures family privileges, blurs the neighborhood school, attacks equity, and makes equal opportunities impossible.Above all, it will have been a legislature daily enlivened by spectacular – and ghostly – projects: a train to Llucmajor that goes underground through Palma, a train to Alcúdia that pierces two entire mountains, various underground works (Gesa, Plaza Mayor, Paseo Marítimo...), exhibition centers, botanical gardens...Just now a metro line has been announced that will start... in 2029! and that (they say) will cost 230 million euros. Does anyone keep track of so many unrealistic projects? It would be advisable, because it is not until this year that we will have finished paying for the Palma Arena (90 million euros) and the Ibiza highways (2003) will not be fully paid off until 2035!The render is smoking, yes. Reality, however, follows a different pace: maximum tension in the old prison; the Catalina Valls theater closed since 2022; none of the 26 announced parking lots in Palma will begin construction this term; paralysis at the s’Aigo Dolça swimming pools (under construction since 2022), at the Son Forteza bridge, at El Tirador...; two years without collecting the fee from the bars in Parque de la Mar, inability to close the two illegal gas stations in Palma...The situation is getting complicated: 90,000 people on the waiting list in public healthcare, loss of 180 hectares of rustic land annually, project to destroy the west flank of the port of Palma: large repair area, Ibiza waste treatment plant, 10 hectares of new concrete docks...And few qualms in ideological matters: dental tests for immigrant minors, repeal of the memory law, hearing in parliament of ‘National Uprising’ and ‘Crusade of Liberation’, abandonment of people in situations of social emergency, obsession against Catalan (discounts, regressions, bites, exceptions...), 895 healthcare professionals without knowledge of Catalan...I'm starting to feel like moving a bit. Aren't you?

It is a series of economic measures to address the increase in prices caused by the war in Iran. But just two days later, President Marga Prohens announced the Executive's proposal. Their main obstacle is the slowness of bill processing in Parliament. To overcome it, they have devised some solutions: an abuse of the decree-law figure, which the Constitutional Court criticized last Friday in a ruling, and the stuffing of legislative initiatives with amendments that have nothing to do with them. But with the processing of the law to accelerate strategic projects, the popular party has gone too far: they have submitted 88 amendments affecting up to 70 different norms, most of them unrelated to strategic projects. Furthermore, they have introduced some of the agreements with Vox against Catalan and immigration.
