The thorn of a rose, in fact, was one of the main protagonists of the exhibition with which he filled the Llotja de Palma 20 years ago. “I am very attracted to the duality it symbolizes”, he acknowledges, and states that he has some planted in the yard of his house.

This is the ground where Llucia Ramis's (Palma, 1977) latest book, Un metro cuadrado, written and published thanks to the No Ficció award from Libros del Asteroide, is situated. In it, the return to all the houses where she has lived serves the writer and journalist as a common thread to delve into all the ingredients with which the current housing crisis has been cooked. As a result of his work as a photojournalist, Borràs has received threats from ultra-right and fascist groups such as the National Democracy party, among others. Borràs is the author of the books Warcelona: A History of Violence (Polen editions, 2013), Dismantling Catalan Civil Society(Saldonar Editions, 2015), Plus ultra: A graphic chronicle of Spanishism in Catalonia (Polen Edicions, 2015) and Days that will last for years(Ahora Libros, 2018). This is an uncomfortable and forceful work that focuses the debate on the limits of freedom of expression, political violence, and the role of photojournalism in democratic denunciation.

The appointment of Guillem Ginard as Tourism Councillor, previously in charge of the island's Culture Department, has led to Roca's chief of staff, Andreu Ferrer, taking over the position. Having reached 70, the Menorcan economist with the longest career and a strong reputation beyond the island is retiring, but not entirely. He chairs the Teatre Lliure Foundation and the Economic Commission of the Sagrada Familia Board of Trustees and directs the Pompeu Fabra University's Center for Research in Economics and Health, which he himself founded 30 years ago. During his nearly six years at the helm, Oliver has spearheaded pioneering initiatives that have shaped the Faculty's trajectory, such as the implementation of specific entrance exams for teaching studies and the reinforcement of the centrality of student internships in schools. The needs of the education system have evolved rapidly, and the Faculty has had to adapt to them in order to respond to the changes and ensure that future teachers arrive in the classrooms well-trained. Now, after this period of leadership, he will leave the deanship at the end of November to fully dedicate himself to teaching and research, while the position will presumably be assumed by Dr. Carme Pinya, currently vice-dean.
