A fire in an electrical panel connected to the rooftop solar panel installation forced the evacuation of the school and the mobilization of emergency services. Students who were in the cafeteria at the time alerted authorities to the black smoke billowing from the roof. At least, nothing had been noticed from the classrooms or the courtyard, neither by smell nor temperature. The fire was strictly technical in origin and did not affect other areas or pose any structural risk to the building. The incident was quickly and effectively contained by the Mallorca Fire Department, who disconnected the photovoltaic system to ensure the school's safety. All students were evacuated to the courtyard, unable to retrieve their belongings, and classes were suspended. The evacuation was carried out according to the self-protection protocol and the fire safety protocol, which was last tested just a month ago. Students, teachers, and non-teaching staff followed the instructions responsibly and cooperatively. No injuries were reported, and the entire school community is safe. The school administration has sent a message of gratitude to the students, teachers, and non-teaching staff for their calm and cooperation, as well as to the emergency services for their swift and professional response.

In Tuesday's session of the jury trial at the Provincial Court against the child's mother, her brother-in-law, and her sister, a nurse who attended to the newborn at the hospital recalled that the baby's heart was beating, although he insisted that this could have been due to the resuscitation efforts undertaken by all those involved upon confirming the newborn's non-viability. The first to testify was a doctor who, in similar terms, indicated that the baby had oxygen in its blood, although it was already separated from the placenta, which can be considered a sign of vitality. "It's possible that it was alive, but whether it was viable is another matter, especially with the resources available at Levante Hospital," she noted. At the start of the hearing, the presiding judge informed the jury that the baby's mother was hospitalized and had expressed her desire to waive her right to be present at the trial. The mother and the baby's uncle were again in the dock, with the prosecution requesting life imprisonment with the possibility of parole for the latter as alleged perpetrators of murder. The mother's sister-in-law is also accused and faces a fine of €5,400 for allegedly failing to render aid. According to the prosecutor's indictment, the events occurred on November 3, 2023, when the woman, 26 or 27 weeks pregnant, became involved in a car accident in which she was traveling with the other two defendants. After giving birth, and despite being in the vicinity of a hospital, the baby's mother handed the newborn's body over to the man because he threw it into a nearby dumpster and they fled the scene.

He reaffirmed his commitment to protecting victims of sexual assault or harassment, but warned that "generalizing" and suspecting the entire institution and its leadership is "extremely dangerous." In the presence of the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; the Deputy Secretary of State, Aina Calvo; the Director General of the Police, Francisco Pardo; the entire police leadership; and the Director of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), Esperanza Casteleiro, as well as representatives of the armed forces and police unions, the Chief Commissioner emphasized that the Police is an "extraordinary, loyal, modern institution at the service of Spain."

The discovery was made shortly before 2:00 p.m. near the Balearic Stadium, and the National Police have opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of his death. The young man, in his early twenties, was not carrying any identification. The body showed no signs of violence, so from the outset, homicide was ruled out. After forensic tests, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources close to the case, investigators determined that it was the young man whose disappearance was reported last Friday. Although the final results of the toxicology tests are still pending, the main hypothesis is that he died as a result of drug intoxication.

The armed force has launched an investigation and is awaiting the autopsy results to proceed further in the case. Currently, foul play is ruled out, as no signs of violence were found on the woman's body or on the yacht. This was explained by the Civil Guard after the analysis carried out by the coroner and the force's forensics unit. According to their findings, the deceased woman was part of the yacht's crew, and a colleague raised the alarm around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. However, the medical services dispatched to the scene could only confirm her death.

The National Police have arrested five people in Palma accused of labor exploitation of foreign workers in barbershops and restaurants in the city. The employees were subjected to workdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Sunday, without days off or vacations. The operation began following an anonymous tip to the email address against human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and labor exploitation, alerting authorities to possible irregularities in businesses run by those now arrested. Based on this information, a joint inspection was carried out with the Labor Inspectorate. During the operation, several foreign workers were identified in barbershops and restaurants in the Balearic capital who lacked authorization to work and were in an irregular immigration status. Investigators confirmed prolonged working hours, the absence of employment contracts, and improper wage deductions that created a situation of economic dependency. According to the police, the employees also suffered social isolation, as they were not allowed to speak to customers, and lived in indecent housing conditions in spaces adjacent to the premises. For this reason, the housing service of the Consell de Mallorca and the urban planning enforcement department of the Palma City Council have initiated the corresponding administrative sanctions. This police operation is part of the actions carried out by the National Police against labor exploitation and the violation of the rights of foreign workers. The investigation remains open and further actions are not ruled out. The Police have reminded the public that the telephone number 900 10 50 90 is free and confidential for reporting or requesting help in cases of human trafficking, sexual or labor exploitation, and that the email address trata@policia.es is also available to provide information.

Initial hypotheses, pending the autopsy results and according to sources close to the investigation who spoke to Europa Press, suggest that both the man and woman had ingested pills. The woman is believed to have died around midday, while the man died a few hours earlier. The same sources explained that the bodies of the man and woman were found in their respective bedrooms. The Civil Guard is investigating the discovery of the bodies of an 80-year-old woman and her 54-year-old son in a home in Portocolom, in the municipality of Felanitx, on Thursday. Early in the afternoon, a family member reported finding the bodies in a house on Grívia Street. The Civil Guard went to the scene and is investigating the incident. No signs of violence were found, and initial investigations point to suicide. In Spain, there are resources available to help those experiencing suicidal thoughts, such as the Suicide Prevention Helpline (717003717, in the Balearic Islands 971461112), the Ministry of Health's suicide prevention hotline (024), and 112, which has mental health professionals.
