Starting this Friday, December 19, and continuing until January 19, these two public spaces will have restrictions on motorized vehicle traffic. According to the City Council, "this is a measure that has already been successfully implemented in recent years during specific periods and is being reinstated this year with a more refined system, based on accumulated experience." The City Council warns that ignoring the barrier will result in a fine. However, "the aim is not to issue fines but to raise awareness that a city center with less traffic offers improved quality of life, safety, and comfort for everyone." The Local Police will also reinforce their presence along the entire stretch of both Joan Lliteres Street and Cós Square. Joan Lliteres Street

The Mobility Delegate, Sebastià Llodrà, highlighted that Joan Lliteres Street "is one of the main commercial axes of the municipality, connecting the station with the pedestrian center. With this measure, we are reinforcing its role as a key commercial and civic space."

This decision was reached on Wednesday by the Pollença Town Council and the Consell de Mallorca (Island Council of Mallorca) at a meeting where they agreed to extend the restriction until October 15th. Closing times will be set from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. "This change is due to the decrease in activity during the second half of October. The Pollença council requested that these two weeks be added to May, as the number of visitors is higher then," sources from the Consell stated. Until last year, driving on the Formentor road was prohibited from June 1st to September 30th, and this year the restriction was extended until the end of October. As in previous years, access to Formentor will only be permitted by public transport, on foot, or by bicycle. This meeting consolidates two levels of restrictions, allowing only authorized vehicles, public transport, emergency services, and bicycles to circulate. The first level begins at the port of Pollença and extends to Formentor beach. The second level runs from Formentor beach to the lighthouse.

The iconic route, which begins in Plaça de Güell—at the intersection of Aragó and Torcuato Luca de Tena streets—will begin at 10 p.m. on Saturday and continue into the early hours of Sunday. This year, the organizers hope to reach 10,000 participants. The 48-kilometer route typically lasts between eight and 13 hours and passes through the following municipalities: Marratxí, Santa Maria, Consell, Binissalem, Lloseta, Biniamar, Selva, Caimari, and, finally, Lluc. The entire route is on a paved road. Coaches have also been arranged to travel from Pollença and Alcúdia to Inca for those who wish to depart from that point. The walk can also be started from any of the other municipalities along the route.
