The reproaches between the Government and the opposition have been the general tone in the last general policy debate of the legislature. After four and a half hours of bickering between parties without a break in the plenary session, the spokesperson for Més per Menorca, Josep Castells, added a relaxed tone to the equation. Castells delivered a voucher for a lobster stew for two people in Menorca to the president, Marga Prohens. With one condition: that she approves the limitation of vehicle entry to the island before the end of the mandate.

PSIB spokesperson Iago Negueruela has kicked off the second session of the general policy debate. "I have never had to vote for something different from what I believed." Josep Castells (Barcelona, 1970) made this reflection in September, when he announced that he would leave politics at the end of the term, after 12 years as a deputy for Més per Menorca in the Parliament. He acknowledges that maintaining coherence is a privilege in current times, when many politicians are subject to the discipline of state parties. And he also emphasizes that, despite everything he has experienced during these three terms, he still maintains the naivety of thinking that things can be changed, even if only a little.

The first plenary session after the calling of the general elections has turned into an open war between the right-wing bench and the left-wing bench over housing. The PSIB has signed up to Pedro Sánchez's plans, who has started the pre-campaign by approving 21 housing measures, and has brought a bill to request that the Islands be declared a stressed area and to force a pronouncement from the PP and Vox. "In a world full of uncertainties and injustices, there are only two paths: indifference or involvement, and the three of us have chosen to get involved," said Servera as his first words to introduce himself.

Amidst traffic jams, saturation, housing shortages, healthcare waiting lists, and the anticipation of a new record number of tourists, Parliament bid farewell to the political year on Tuesday with a squabble among deputies over holidays. Citizens' problems will not disappear and will await September, after three months without parliamentary activity, which does not mean that there isn't some absent-minded person who will work during this time. Even the vice-president of Vox of the Consell de Mallorca, Pedro Bestard, will be able to enjoy a quiet summer after the final decision that the PP and Vox have made on his case. Lest anyone forget, Bestard used three public vehicles exclusively, for both public and private matters, while his department (Environment) has about twenty unusable cars and officials suffer from the shortage.

The Parliament approved the Omnibus Law this Tuesday after an accident-prone process in Parliament that has put the left in a state of war and has even provoked complaints from the legal advisors. The norm began to be processed as a law for strategic projects but, in a plot twist, the PP modified its title to introduce about seventy of its own amendments on unrelated issues and, incidentally, to comply with the pacts with Vox pending officialization. MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca have confirmed this Tuesday that they will challenge the Omnibus Law before the Constitutional Court (TC) through an appeal for protection because they consider that it has been approved irregularly. The reason is that the norm includes amendments on issues that have nothing to do with the promotion of strategic projects, which was the initial object of the norm, to which even the name has ended up being modified through an amendment. The changes introduced mainly by the PP and Vox, although the PSIB has also agreed to several with the popular ones, affect about fifty laws. In parallel, MÉS per Mallorca will also present a second unconstitutionality appeal for the points they consider affect citizens' "rights".

MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca have this Wednesday halted the PP, PSIB, and Vox's intention to process the omnibus law in the plenary session before the procedure completes all steps in parliamentary committee. "They are laughing at parliamentarism," lamented the eco-sovereignist leader, Lluís Apesteguia. "If the citizens saw how 'shabby' the Parliament is, they would put their hands on their heads," lamented the Menorcanist Josep Castells on his part.

"Stop making a fool of yourself and deceiving. You, ideology and zero management": this is the accusation that the Minister of the Presidency, Antònia Maria Estarellas, launched at the PSIB deputy Omar Lamin during Tuesday's Parliament session. What kind of accusation is it to tell a politician they have ideology, when it is precisely the ideology of public representatives that determines a good part of citizens' lives? At this point, it is worth remembering what Slavoj Žižek says, who considers that the most dangerous ideology is precisely the one we pretend not to have. It is not an theoretical extravagance. Jürgen Habermas also warned that technical rationality —what we would call 'management' today— can impose values while presenting itself as neutral. And Thomas Piketty has been reminding us for years that behind many technical decisions lie very specific ideological choices about inequality. From this, an uncomfortable conclusion emerges: 'management' is often not the alternative to ideology, but its best disguise.

Left-wing MPs have found a way to undermine the ministers during government oversight sessions: they ask the questions they are obliged to answer (although they often do not) in a broad and expressly ambiguous way, to catch them off guard. "Can there be equality without equity?" was a question from the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) registered in the plenary session this Tuesday. "Is the cost of living bearable in our city?" asked MÁS (More for Change).
