The coordinator of MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, and the deputy Maria Ramon announced this Saturday their candidacy for the primaries of the eco-sovereigntist party to lead the list in the 2027 regional elections. They did so with a call to strengthen the party's political project and with the intention of placing it in a position to contest political leadership in the Balearic Islands.

The mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver, confirmed this Thursday his candidacy to lead MÉS per Mallorca in the Council. As reported by ARA Balears, the eco-sovereigntist is making the leap to supramunicipal politics after three terms at the head of the City Council, the last one improving electoral results in a context of general decline of the left in the Islands. In a Facebook post, Oliver explained that he will team up with Marta Català, the party's Secretary of Finance.

The spokesperson for MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, boasted about his knowledge of Latin in this Tuesday's plenary session. Amidst the chaos of the Government's Omnibus Law approval, the eco-sovereigntist, who holds a degree in classical philology, was one of the few parliamentarians who enumerated the amendments, laid out in that language on the voting script, without pronunciation problems. A skill that impressed the President of the Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne (Vox), who admitted he struggled to keep up with the speed at which he enumerated each point. "Mr. Apesteguia, I do not have so much knowledge of Latin," he told him on one occasion, asking him to go slower. "What a Roman accent!" he finally conceded, when Apesteguia requested a separate vote for points "novovicies" (29) and "tertricies" (33).

The Parliament approved the Omnibus Law this Tuesday after an accident-prone process in Parliament that has put the left in a state of war and has even provoked complaints from the legal advisors. The norm began to be processed as a law for strategic projects but, in a plot twist, the PP modified its title to introduce about seventy of its own amendments on unrelated issues and, incidentally, to comply with the pacts with Vox pending officialization. The opposition in bloc has denounced the "chaos", but while MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca have refused to participate, the PSIB has indeed agreed on some amendments with the PP on the taxi sector and the integration of the Tax Agency (ATIB). The legislative chaos continued until the last minute, when the deputies did not understand the voting blocks and the president of the Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne, had to take a recess to clarify things and, finally, a roll-call vote had to be resorted to.

MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca have confirmed this Tuesday that they will challenge the Omnibus Law before the Constitutional Court (TC) through an appeal for protection because they consider that it has been approved irregularly. The reason is that the norm includes amendments on issues that have nothing to do with the promotion of strategic projects, which was the initial object of the norm, to which even the name has ended up being modified through an amendment. The changes introduced mainly by the PP and Vox, although the PSIB has also agreed to several with the popular ones, affect about fifty laws. In parallel, MÉS per Mallorca will also present a second unconstitutionality appeal for the points they consider affect citizens' "rights".

The Mixed Commission on Insularity of the Congress and the Senate approved this Tuesday a motion in favor of airport co-management for the Balearic and Canary Islands, an initiative defended by the deputy of MÉS per Mallorca, Vicenç Vidal, which went ahead with the favorable votes of MÉS and the PNB, the abstention of the PP and the PSOE, and the rejection of Vox.

The spokesperson for MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, on Monday claimed the results of Endavant Andalusia – it has gone from two to eight seats in the Andalusian elections of May 17 – as proof that the sovereignist left is the one that has "the capacity to grow and to stand up to the right and the far right". In the same vein, he launched a criticism at "the state left-wing forces", such as Sumar, with whom they share a parliamentary group in Congress: "They are more concerned with their survival and maintaining their power quotas than with responding to different situations". Therise of Endavant Andalusia indicates that the wind is also blowing in favor of MÉS?

MÉS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca have this Wednesday halted the PP, PSIB, and Vox's intention to process the omnibus law in the plenary session before the procedure completes all steps in parliamentary committee. "They are laughing at parliamentarism," lamented the eco-sovereignist leader, Lluís Apesteguia. "If the citizens saw how 'shabby' the Parliament is, they would put their hands on their heads," lamented the Menorcanist Josep Castells on his part.

MÁS per Mallorca has this week kicked off various primary processes. In a month, the list leaders of the main candidacies will be proclaimed, but there are already some names appearing in the quinielas. Lluís Apesteguia will repeat as list leader for the Parlament. The mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver, is emerging as the option for the Consell de Mallorca, and among the options to replace him in the City Council, councilor Ferran Montero has gained strength. Palma is the big unknown: the leadership offered former minister Fina Santiago to be number one, but she has not accepted the proposal. As a B option, the name of professor David Pujol is being considered. But this has a handicap: there would be no woman among the prominent list leaders.

The Antifascist Coordinator of Mallorca has called a protest this Sunday in front of the Consolat de Mar, at 10:00 AM, in rejection of the concentration planned for the same day in the Feixina park by the neo-Nazi group Núcleo Nacional.

MÁS per Mallorca has kicked off the primary process to choose candidates for the Consell de Mallorca and the Parliament. This was done after the Assembly met this Wednesday in Palma and approved the regulations that will govern these elections.

The Councilor for Culture, Ferran Montero, is currently the preferred choice to replace Miquel Oliver as MÉS candidate in Manacor. The current mayor's move to island politics – foreseeably, to the lists for the Consell de Mallorca – leaves a significant void in the City Council and has activated the speculation. Although nothing is official or finalized and negotiations continue, sources from the party point to Montero as the most viable option at present, and everything suggests he will team up with the also Councilor for Public Spaces, Joana Maria Llull. Be that as it may, it is not the only possibility on the table, and any candidacy will be submitted to an internal primary process.

He did his military service with little enthusiasm. He studied Systems Informatics at the UIB. At 15 years old, he became so passionate about volleyball that, when he was already living in Palma, he would return to Manacor once a week to train. At only fourteen months old, he already spoke clearly. He wasn't one of those children who get tangled up with their words: he quickly developed the ability to express himself with precision. Joana Gomila, mother of the mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver Gomila, tells us this. It's hard to get words out of Joana. At the end of the conversation, she reveals why: “A mother always speaks well of her children. What else are we going to say? And I… I don't just want to praise him.” There will be some, but not that many.

MÉS per Mallorca on Sunday called for the resignation of the Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca, Pedro Bestard (Vox), following the publication of information pointing to an alleged irregular use of official vehicles of the institution for personal travel and party activities.

"Stop making a fool of yourself and deceiving. You, ideology and zero management": this is the accusation that the Minister of the Presidency, Antònia Maria Estarellas, launched at the PSIB deputy Omar Lamin during Tuesday's Parliament session. What kind of accusation is it to tell a politician they have ideology, when it is precisely the ideology of public representatives that determines a good part of citizens' lives? At this point, it is worth remembering what Slavoj Žižek says, who considers that the most dangerous ideology is precisely the one we pretend not to have. It is not an theoretical extravagance. Jürgen Habermas also warned that technical rationality —what we would call 'management' today— can impose values while presenting itself as neutral. And Thomas Piketty has been reminding us for years that behind many technical decisions lie very specific ideological choices about inequality. From this, an uncomfortable conclusion emerges: 'management' is often not the alternative to ideology, but its best disguise.

The plenary session of the Parliament will give the green light to the creation of a private university that will bear the name of Mallorca with the favorable vote of the PP and Vox, the abstention of the PSIB, and the vote against MÉS per Mallorca. This is the Universitat de Mallorca (UMAC), promoted by the private higher education center ADEMA, chaired by Diego González, former general secretary of the PSIB in Palma and former director general during the mandate of Francesc Antich. The vote will take place tomorrow in the plenary session of the Parliament. From here, both the Consell de Govern and the Consell d'Universitats will also have to approve it.

Neither the lawyers' criticisms, nor the PSIB's opposition, nor the threat from MÉS to go to the Constitutional Court have stopped the PP and Vox in their attempt to modify 70 norms at once through the Law on strategic projects. The two parties have recovered, asserting their majority in the Parliament's Board, the hundred amendments (88 from the PP and 12 from Vox) that the Economy Commission's board rejected, considering that they had nothing to do with the object of the Law.

The sale of the warehouse and the rustic land exploited by the founding company l'Esplet is now the last chapter in the disappearance of a benchmark in the Balearic countryside. At the beginning of the month, the company's closure and the dismissal of its 19 workers due to economic problems were made public. Now, two weeks later, the company is selling the warehouse and land for five million euros.

The Government met last Wednesday with the spokespeople of the parliamentary groups to hear their proposals before presenting its anti-crisis decree-law. It is a series of economic measures to address the increase in prices caused by the war in Iran. But just two days later, President Marga Prohens announced the Executive's proposal. She did so, as MÉS per Mallorca and Vox have denounced, without even sending them a draft of the decree-law beforehand. Nevertheless, the PP expects it to be approved with "unanimous" or "the broadest possible" consensus.

But, for now, no party has guaranteed its support for the measure that President Marga Prohens presented last Friday. It is a series of economic aid measures to cope with the price increase caused by the war in Iran. However, both Vox and MÉS per Mallorca have criticized that the Executive has not even shown them the text. "We don't even have a draft," said the spokesperson for the far-right, Manuela Cañadas. For their part, the PSIB has limited themselves to saying that they are waiting to see if the decree also includes social measures.
