The Ciutadella City Council has demanded this Tuesday that Ports de les Illes Balears (Ports IB) assume its responsibility and immediately remove the residue of supposedly polluting sludge from the dredging of the port, which has been dumped in the colàrsega.

The Government has issued a resolution to prevent moorings granted for private use in autonomously managed ports from being used for profit, such as the tourist rental of private boats. The measure is adopted following the entry into force of the state resolution allowing private recreational vessels to temporarily change their use to commercial, and in exercise of the exclusive powers held by the autonomous community over the public port domain.

The restoration initiative for Posidonia oceanica in the port of Fornells, promoted by the Balearic Islands Government through Ports IB, is achieving very positive results. Recent scientific monitoring has confirmed a survival rate of over 99% for the planted fragments, consolidating the initial success of this environmental restoration measure.
