This Monday, La2Cat, the TVE channel, launches its entire programming in Catalan. However, the channel will only be available through Digital Terrestrial Television in Catalonia. Despite the agreement between the OCB and TVE and the approval of the Catalan Parliament, for technical and communication reasons between the parties involved, it is still unknown when this channel will be available in the Balearic Islands. However, islanders who want to enjoy the programming can now do so through the RTVE Play app.

Radio 4 will arrive in the Balearic Islands starting in September. This was confirmed by the Balearic Cultural Organization (OCB) this Friday in a statement, announcing that the reception of this station will be the first concrete implementation of the increase in Catalan-language media to which the Spanish government and the president of the public broadcaster RTVE have committed. The president of the OCB, Antoni Llabrés, praised the willingness and speed with which these issues are being addressed to respond to the organization's demands.

The president of the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (RTVE), José Pablo López, has explained to the president of the Balearic Cultural Work (OCB), Antoni Llabrés, the technical possibilities that would allow reception of the new 2CAT channel in the Balearic Islands, as the island entity demands. López has guaranteed reception of the children's and youth channel Clan in Catalan, the activation of Catalan by default in dual-mode transmissions, and immediate reception of Radio 4 broadcasts.

The Balearic Cultural Organization (OCB) announced this Wednesday that the Spanish government has expressed its support for the new 2Cat channel, promoted by RTVE, to also be available in the Balearic Islands via DTT. The decision now rests with RTVE's General Management, which "will have to find the most appropriate technical solution to make it effective," the organization reported in a press release. The OCB met with the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, Óscar López, in Madrid. The channel is expected to begin regular broadcasts this fall.

This week, the Platform for Language sent a motion to all municipal political groups in the Balearic Islands, requesting that they present it in their town council plenary sessions demanding that RTVE's new Catalan-language channel also be broadcast in the islands. The organization denounces that limiting this new audiovisual offering exclusively to Catalonia "seriously violates the linguistic rights of the citizens of the Balearic Islands and constitutes, at the same time, a further example of institutional disregard for the unity of the Catalan language and its speakers."
