The Association of Neighbors of La Soledat has revived the Sant Joan festivities with the aim of once again making this celebration a space for coexistence, identity, and popular culture. From June 19 to 27, the neighborhood will host a program of activities that seeks to recover a tradition that for decades was part of the daily life of La Soledat and the festive heritage of Mallorca.

A man died this Monday at Son Espases University Hospital after spending more than a year in a coma, following an attack by two minors in November 2024 during an attempted robbery. The victim's family confirmed his death on the website where they had been raising funds for his medical care. The German man ultimately succumbed to his injuries. On December 27, 2024, National Police officers arrested two minors as the alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery and attempted murder, after they beat the man to steal his cell phone. The National Police reported that the incident occurred on November 30 of that year at approximately 3:00 a.m., when a call was received at the 091 emergency line reporting an unconscious and bleeding man in the street in the La Soledad neighborhood. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Unity is strength. This universal message, which "was true 70 years ago, is true now, and will be true 70 years from now," is what the president of the new Soledat neighborhood association, Miquel Coll, wants to convey to the neighborhood's residents. "In the face of this bombardment that tells us 'you can do anything,' something that isn't true individually," says Coll, "we have to work together to move forward." As a first step, they will reach out to the neighborhood's residents to revive the festival of Our Lady of Solitude, which will take place the weekend of September 13 and 14. "The idea is to make ourselves known so we can build strength," adds Miquel.

The National Police in Palma carried out an operation against drug trafficking in the neighborhoods of Soledat and Foners on Tuesday, arresting three people and dismantling a sales point with armored doors and cameras to monitor the street. During the police operation, two home searches were carried out and a very active sales point in Soledad was dismantled, according to Europa Press.
