The Palma City Council and the majority of Local Police unions have signed peace this Friday, after months of conflict with an agreement that foresees a salary improvement of close to 2,500 gross euros per month for the officers. The measure, which will mean an impact of 10 million euros for the municipal coffers, will have retroactive effects from January 1, 2026, as announced by the mayor, Jaime Martínez.

The situation of the national police officers deployed to Mallorca from Valencia continues to generate controversy. The Jupol union has reported that several officers from the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), on secondment to Palma, were forced to pay up to 700 euros in advance to remain in a hotel, after the Ministry of the Interior only paid an advance for 11 of the 18 planned nights. According to the union, the lack of solutions from the administration has put the officers assigned to reinforce summer security in a critical situation, a situation they consider "shameful."
