A cold air mass will cause a drop in temperature this Tuesday and an episode of heavy and persistent showers in the Balearic Islands. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) warns that the islands could experience a meteorologically adverse day, with intense precipitation that will also affect the Catalan coast. The situation will be conditioned by an anticyclone located over the British Isles that will favor the entry of easterly winds and will bring humid air to the eastern third of the Peninsula and the Archipelago.

Just a few days ago, Mallorca was on orange alert for temperatures that could reach 39 degrees. This Sunday, however, the island faces a completely different situation: the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated an orange alert for rain and storms, while the 112 Emergency service has raised the Meteobal plan alert to severity index 1 (IG-1).

The Balearic Islands will reach maximum temperatures that could approach 38 degrees in a week in which dry thunderstorms are also likely to occur, leaving mud precipitation, according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency. The week begins this Monday with a cold air front that could lead to a trough and some dry thunderstorms, with precipitation, albeit weak, in the form of mud.

The Military Emergency Unit (UME) intervened overnight Tuesday, carrying out cleanup work near the airport and removing water from roads and homes in Ibiza. The UME reported this in a message on the social network X, in which they detailed that they carried out missions such as cleaning a highway near Ibiza airport and removing water accumulated due to heavy rain from homes, garages, and streets.
