A 34-year-old American citizen has requested political asylum in Mallorca out of fear of Donald Trump's policies. The man appeared this Wednesday at the Felanitx Civil Guard barracks, explaining his case and requesting that an asylum application be processed, citing the fear he suffers from not sharing the policies being implemented in his country by President Donald Trump.

The 54-year-old man found dead in his home in Portocolom (Mallorca) on Thursday died a few hours before his 80-year-old mother, who was also found deceased. "I received a traffic fine, just like 200,000 other people might," replies Catalina Soler, the mayor of Felanitx, when asked about the €100 fine she allegedly received from the Civil Guard last May for supposedly disrespecting officers. "What I've received doesn't match what's been reported, neither in the amount nor the details, so I've already put it in the hands of my lawyer."

The Court of Instruction Number 1 of Manacor has ordered the provisional dismissal of the case opened against the mayor of Felanitx, Catalina Soler (Popular Party), in connection with a complaint filed by a local police officer accusing her of resistance, disobedience, and threats during an incident last July. According to the court order, the court considers that it has not been sufficiently proven that Soler committed any crime, and therefore has decided to provisionally dismiss the case. The complaint, which had generated some controversy in the municipality, stemmed from a personal and professional conflict between the mayor and one of the local police officers, after the officer wrote an internal report stating that Soler had threatened him during the Portocolom Wine Festival last July.

The Felanitx Town Council has authorized the Consell de Mallorca (Island Council) to proceed with the demolition of two buildings belonging to the Trade Union, which are in ruins and have no heritage value. The Council, according to a statement, approved granting the necessary building permit to carry out the demolition work. The project, submitted by the island institution, which owns the building and the land where the Trade Union was located, is solely for demolition and complies with the specific rules and conditions established by current urban planning regulations. The action includes the demolition of the two small structures located near the ring road, which "have nothing to do with the original construction of the Trade Union," the Town Council stated. They are made of reinforced concrete, consist of three pillars and a beam, and are approximately four meters high and 14 meters long. A 118-square-meter concrete pavement will also be demolished. The project presented by the Consell de Mallorca has a cost of 7,500 euros and in no way implies a modification of the existing urban planning parameters, since the buildings are currently ruins and have no heritage value.
