The Ministry of Education and Universities has announced that it will hold a school competition in 2026, entitled 'Lo Pi de Formentor,' for secondary and high school students. This initiative is part of the Costa i Llobera Year celebrations, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the publication of the poem of the same name by the Mallorcan poet. The competition will serve as the culmination of the celebrations and aims to promote knowledge of literature in the Balearic Islands' own language, as well as stimulate young people's interest in literary and artistic creation. The competition categories will be drawing, for first and second-year secondary school students; narrative, for third and fourth-year secondary school students; and poetry, for first and second-year high school students. Prizes are expected to be awarded in all categories, and recognition will also be given to the teachers who collaborated with the students' work. The competition rules will be presented to schools in January, detailing submission deadlines, requirements for texts and drawings, and the corresponding prizes. The Costa i Llobera Year, promoted by the Consell de Mallorca and the Balearic Government through the Institute of Balearic Studies, aims to foster knowledge and appreciation of Catalan literature among students. With this competition, the Ministry intends to pay tribute to one of the great poets of the Islands and encourage creativity and artistic expression.

Binissalem will once again become one of the epicenters of choral music in the Balearic Islands on the first weekend of December. From December 5th to 7th, the town will host the fourth edition of the Choral Competition, an event that in just a few years has become a fixture on the Balearic musical calendar and which pays tribute to the Mallorcan composer and educator Baltasar Bibiloni. The Church of Santa María de Robines will once again be the stage for a competition that this year has broken participation records, with eight choirs from various parts of Spain. These include Ars Nova (Xàbia), Pequeñas Voces de la Alhambra (Granada), the UIB Women's Choir, Coro Sons (Manresa), Oñatiko Ganbara Abesbatza (Basque Country), Coro Encuentro (Barcelona), Coro Sinfonía (Torrevella), and the Oriol Martorellons Chamber Choir (Barcelona). The program will begin on Friday, December 5th, at 8:00 PM, with the official presentation of the choirs and the jury, and a performance by the special guest Cor Jove del Moianès, under the direction of Elisenda Cabero. The competition will begin on Saturday, with four morning performances—starting at 11:30 AM—and another four in the afternoon, at 4:30 PM. On Sunday, also at 11:30 AM, the qualifying choirs will perform, and once the concert is over, the jury will announce its verdict. The jury will be composed of five prestigious professionals from the choral world: Enrique Azurza, César Reda, Maria Camps, Andrew Hallock, and Ane Legarreta. The prizes include two categories: adult choirs—with rewards of €3,000 and €2,000—and children's choirs—with prizes of €2,000 and €1,500—in addition to awards for best conductor and the audience prize. Founded in 2019, the competition has quickly become a fixture in the municipality's cultural life. The organizers, the 3x4 Choir Group and the Binissalem Music School, acknowledge the essential support of the Town Hall, the Consell de Mallorca (Island Council of Mallorca), various local businesses and organizations, individual collaborators, and a large group of volunteers who make each edition possible.

Almost six years ago, the Marilles Foundation recognized the importance of raising awareness about the conservation of the Balearic Sea through the visual arts and created MARE, an annual image and video competition whose main discipline is underwater digital photography, to inspire action for the Balearic Sea. The project coordinator, Amador Garcia, explains that art "has the power to stir consciences and touch hearts." He also believes that this positive initiative "has more impact than a catastrophic campaign that conveys a negative message." This year, MADRE celebrates its sixth edition with the MADRE25 Conference, "The Sea Moves Us," a space for meeting, inspiration, and action for the conservation of the Balearic Sea. MADRE and Cultura Inquieta have organized a contest of reels to raise awareness about the importance and ecological wealth of the Balearic Sea.
