The Palma City Council has inaugurated at Bellver Castle the Gallery of Portraits of the mayors who, over the course of the successive legislative terms, initiated following the 1979 electoral call, have held the presidency of the municipal Corporation.The gallery brings together the portraits of Ramon Aguiló Munar, mayor between 1979 and 1991; Joan Fageda Aubert, mayor between 1991 and 2003; Catalina Cirer Adrover, mayor between 2003 and 2007; Aina Calvo Sastre, mayor between 2007 and 2011; Mateu Isern Estela, mayor between 2011 and 2015; José Hila Vargas, mayor between 2015 and 2017 and between 2019 and 2023; and Antoni Noguera Ortega, mayor between 2017 and 2019.

The Palma City Council, with votes in favor from the PP and Vox parties, has taken another step towards granting maximum protection to the Feixina monolith. The Urban Planning and Environment Committee debated this Friday the final approval of the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) to include the monument in the city's Catalogue of Protected Buildings and Elements. The measure, which was initially approved by the Urban Planning Department last year, now faces its penultimate step before final validation. The final vote is scheduled for the next plenary session of the city council, to be held next week.

The Secretary of State for Security, Aina Calvo, has defended the need for greater Frontex cooperation in countries of origin as a key tool for controlling migratory flows. "We have seen, tested, and proven that the important thing is to prevent the boats from reaching our country. We believe this would be a much more useful task and would allow us to attack the problem at its root," she stated. Calvo made this statement during her visit to the Civil Guard's oceanographic vessel. Calvo explained that "operational capacity at the source of the crisis has a lot to do with the 40% decrease in migratory flows in Spain in the last three years," although she also mentioned the "strong and constant" migratory pressure on the Balearic Islands.
