According to estimates, approximately 91% of the waste will come from Ibiza and 9% from Formentera, and the annual costs of the pilot program are estimated at around €10 million. During the summer, the population of Ibiza doubles and that of Formentera triples, which proportionally increases waste generation. Council officials believe it makes sense for the tourism sector to contribute, through the ITS, to solving this shared problem.

The request is for access to the technical and legal reports and formalized agreements that support this decision and is based on the citizen's right of access to public and environmental information, the organization explained in a statement reported by Efe.

Approximately 70% of this waste is rejected, which is sent to the Ca na Putxa landfill in the municipality of Santa Eulàlia. He explained that the Ca na Putxa landfill is nearing the end of its useful life and, given the lack of foresight from the Ibiza Island Council, the "emergency solution" is now being considered: transferring the rejected waste to Mallorca for incineration in Son Reus. He also points out that Ibiza does not have a master plan for the sector, given that only approximately 30% (paper and cardboard, packaging, and organic matter) arrives.
