Because in every dish, however simple, there is a story, and every recipe is a journey of no return. This was confirmed by sources at Son Espases Hospital, where she was initially taken. Her 62-year-old husband, who also suffered smoke inhalation injuries, is in stable condition and under observation in the emergency room at Son Llàtzer Hospital. It should be noted that three people (a married couple, the husband 62 and the wife 61, and the woman's sister) were injured on Tuesday. According to information provided by SAMU 061 (the emergency medical service) and the Mallorca Fire Department, the fire, the cause of which is still unknown, broke out shortly after midnight in a house on Pare Bartomeu Pou Street. Neighbors alerted authorities after seeing fire and smoke coming from the house and reporting that there were two people inside. Police, firefighters, and paramedics were quickly mobilized. The couple was taken to Son Llàtzer and Son Espases hospitals, while their sister was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization. According to a later statement from the Civil Guard, at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, a patrol received a fire report and upon arrival found a man calling for help from a second-floor window, saying his wife was inside. Upon attempting to enter the apartment, the officers encountered a large accumulation of dense smoke that severely hampered visibility and breathing. After an initial attempt to control the fire with an official fire extinguisher proved insufficient, they managed to create an alternative entrance by breaking down one of the front doors.

The bench, which displays the colors of the LGBTQ+ community, was found defaced with the word "Gay" painted in black. This is the third attack on the rainbow-colored bench. The first occurred in 2023, but it didn't receive much public attention at the time. In December 2024, it was vandalized again, this time painted entirely green. This second attack was condemned by the Algaida Town Council, which reported the incident to the Civil Guard. At the time, the Council and the Equality Commission expressed "their absolute condemnation and outrage at the act of vandalism" through social media and made their position known to the press. Now, in response to this latest attack, the commission has gone a step further, with some of its members posing for photographs to confront those who perpetrate these acts of vandalism from behind a veil of anonymity.

Tomeu spoke on behalf of the family: "Words cannot express how proud and happy we are of this tribute. I know I'm not mistaken in saying that for him there is no greater gift or honor than to preside forever, alongside the other illustrious sons, over the Algaida Town Hall's plenary hall. The ceremony took place during an extraordinary plenary session held in the Porrassar multipurpose hall. More than 300 people attended, demonstrating the collective appreciation and recognition for Francesc Antich. Antich was mayor of Algaida from 1991 to 1997 and is a key figure in Balearic politics, who always proudly proclaimed his Algaida roots. Several political figures attended the event, including Francina Armengol, President of the Congress of Deputies, as well as several Secretaries of State: Aina Calvo, Arcadi España, and Rosario Sánchez. Also in attendance were the Balearic Islands Government Councillor, Jaume Bauzà Mayol; the President of IMAS, Guillermo Sánchez Cifre; the Government Delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez; and the Commanding Colonel of the Civil Guard in the Balearic Islands, Alejandro Hernández Mosquera. Following speeches by the various municipal groups praising Francesc Antich, a secret ballot was held, culminating in the unanimous approval of his appointment as an Illustrious Son of Algaida.

With over 1,700 registered residents—and many more who are not on the census—and nearly a thousand holiday tourist accommodations, the municipality's rural territory has become a dense, active, and difficult-to-manage area. This growth is in addition to the population of the urban centers, which in 2024 reached 5,546 inhabitants in Algaida, 672 in Pina, and 116 in Randa. The new human and tourist pressure has multiplied the problems: uncontrolled dumping, security conflicts, unlicensed construction, irregular earthworks, damage to protected areas, and even issues of coexistence. According to the Town Hall, some residents "want to have rights but forget their obligations," which makes managing a fragile and dispersed area difficult.

The goal is to streamline the recycling system and reduce the constant illegal dumping. This is all part of the transition plan to the new Algaida recycling center, which opened last October. The first collection point to be eliminated was the one on the Sencelles road, the closest to the new municipal collection center. Although residents of the area can now go directly to the new recycling center to manage all their waste, the Town Council has detected the first instances of illegal dumping in the area formerly occupied by the collection point. Therefore, despite the closure of these collection points, the surveillance cameras remain active. According to the planned schedule, the next areas to be closed will be the Montaña area (December 1st) and the Porreres road area (December 15th). Next year, the Castellitx branch will close (January 1st), as will the Cemetery branch (January 15th). The Son Lluc, Pina, and Randa branches will also close, with the closing date yet to be determined.
