She needed to make one last gesture before leaving, and placed her red handkerchief on the table where the Prime Minister was still sitting. Marga Prohens"Truth, justice, and reparation," he said and left. He did so in protest against the repeal of the Democratic Memory Law, swiftly struck down at the initiative of the far right, supported by the PP. Vox celebrated it as another victory, while the Popular Party simply weathered the storm as best they could. No applause, no congratulations, just perfunctory smiles. "We're the only normal party," the PP spokesperson, Sebastià Sagreras, was heard saying once the plenary session ended. You know how it is: non-small excusatio, manifest accusatioIn other words, perhaps you should get it checked out if you feel the need to justify your behavior.

Relatives of victims of Francoist repression attended a tense plenary session. Vox defended the proposed repeal, and the far-right party's deputy spokesperson, Sergio Rodríguez, presented himself as a victim of the Republicans and accused the Socialists of belonging to a "party of murderers." The PP, for its part, abstained from applauding when the vote concluded, amidst criticism from the left-wing benches. The regional president, Marga Prohens, was pressured to pose for photographs with far-right leaders, including Congressman Jorge Campos, who was also in the audience.

He considers it historic for two reasons. First, because it will eliminate a "partisan, freedom-crushing" law. Second, because it is "the first law to be passed solely at Vox's initiative": "It's the first law we've passed."

Franco has been dead for fifty years and is just as dead everywhere—here too—although Francoism had a strong and powerful hold in the Balearic and Pitiusas Islands. Mallorca, specifically, has the dubious honor of having been the first area of Spanish territory to join the illegal uprising of the military and Falangists against the Republican government, although this promptness is partly explained by the fact that a Mallorcan, Joan March, was among those who financed the coup.

Several people attended the commemoration in Plaça de Cort, where a manifesto was read to remember the more than 3,000 victims in the Balearic Islands and reaffirm the commitment to "truth, dignity, and the defense of democratic memory." The president of Memoria de Mallorca, Maria Antònia Oliver, publicly denounced the fact that the Balearic Government has not commemorated this date for three consecutive years, as established by the still-valid Democratic Memory Law. She therefore called on the Balearic Executive to "reconsider" the foreseeable repeal of the Democratic Memory Law. "They accuse us of being sectarian, but we defend the rights and reparations for all victims, without making any kind of distinction," he emphasized.
