MÉS per Palma has denounced that the Columbarium of Dignity in the municipal cemetery was closed this Sunday, All Saints' Day, a fact that prevented relatives of victims of Francoist repression from accessing the space where their remains rest.

MÉS per Palma will present a motion to the next municipal plenary session in support of the general strike for housing called for November 11. The initiative demands measures to curb real estate speculation, limit rental prices, and facilitate access to housing in the Balearic capital.

MÉS per Palma, MÉS per Mallorca, the Coppieters Foundation and the Darder-Mascaró Foundations presented this Wednesday the fourth edition of the Anti-Fascist Weekend, which this year will be held under the motto 'Building a democratic horizon. European proposals'. The sessions will take place on October 16th and 17th at La Col·lectiva in Palma, with debates and workshops to respond to the rise of the far-right and the reactionary wave in Europe.

MÉS per Palma and the PSOE have asked the Palma City Council to investigate how the data regarding the municipal financial aid received by Pilar López has been leaked, the 65-year-old woman who slept in a car for two months after losing her home and who publicly denounced her situation before the Parliament and at the Cort plenary session.

MÉS per Palma has denounced that the signage and institutional advertising of the new Parc Verd de Llevant are written "exclusively in Spanish" and do not incorporate Catalan. The party considers that this situation constitutes a breach of the Municipal Regulation on Linguistic Normalization of Palma.

The MÉS candidate for mayor of Palma, David Pujol, denounced this Thursday that the nautical bus project being prepared by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) and the PP “will bring tourist overcrowding to El Molinar and Portitxol”. In a statement, the party criticized that the project mainly responds to the needs of tourist activity and cruise passengers, instead of addressing the daily mobility problems of residents.

MÉS per Palma denounced this Friday the alleged use of single-use cups during the Patrona festival, organized by the Palma City Council, and demands that the municipal government explain whether the containers used complied with current regulations. The party has registered a request for information to find out what type of cups were used, the cost, the collection system, and the measures adopted to prevent waste.

Pilar López Cabrera, 65 years old, explained this Thursday, in tears and during the Palma plenary session, the ordeal she has been living through after losing her home. "I am Spanish and have 40 years of contributions, but I have spent the whole summer sleeping in my car," she recounted. During the months of July and August, she claims she slept inside the vehicle, washed herself in establishments like Eroski or Mercadona, and showered every morning at the Ciutat Jardí showers.

The municipal government of the Popular Party granted the urban planning license to build a gas station on Carrer de Cabusso in Ribera de Platja de Palma, in Can Pastilla, when the land had already been declared a flood zone, according to MÉS per Palma. The political group asserts that, furthermore, in the documentation it has been able to examine, there is no report from Water Resources endorsing the action, and it demands that the government of Jaime Martínez explain with what guarantees the project was authorized.

Ben Amics has denounced that the Equality area of the Palma City Council remains "temporarily unavailable" for the second consecutive school year, a situation that the entity attributes to a "lack of political will" of the PP municipal government. This has caused the educational workshops on affective, sexual and gender diversity that the entity had been teaching for more than 18 months to be paralyzed.

This was the reaction of some of the members of the Palma Municipal Music Band of Palma when, a few minutes before the start of the event in defense of Ceuta, they saw the atmosphere and heard the shouts against the Spanish government and Pedro Sánchez. MÉS per Palma has proposed this Monday to limit the price of commercial rents in the city's stressed areas to protect local businesses and curb the replacement of traditional businesses by franchises and establishments exclusively oriented towards tourism. The proposal has been presented at the former Donya Àngela haberdashery, one of Palma's historic businesses, which the party has symbolically turned into a real estate agency to denounce how speculation is transforming the city and expelling both residents and traditional businesses. According to MÉS, the problem is not a lack of customers, but the continuous increase in commercial rents. "Many businesses don't close because the business isn't working. They close because, when the contract ends, the new rent is simply unaffordable," explained MÉS per Palma candidate David Pujol.The group warns that this process is causing an homogenization of Palma's commercial landscape. Neighborhood businesses are disappearing and are being replaced by franchises, large chains, or establishments geared towards tourist consumption, which impoverishes the identity of the neighborhoods and reduces the services intended for the resident population. For this reason, MÉS proposes to promote specific regulation of commercial rents in the most tense areas, with the aim of avoiding disproportionate price increases, facilitating the continuity of local businesses and preserving the commercial diversity of the city. "When speculation enters through the door, neighborhood commerce leaves through the window," summarized Pujol.The spokesperson for MÉS per Palma, Neus Truyol, recalled that the disappearance of traditional commerce is a direct consequence of the same model that expels residents from neighborhoods. MÉS also recalled that the General Plan promoted during the last term incorporated tools to preserve the commercial balance of the neighborhoods and limit the concentration of tourist uses, but that the Popular Party abandoned that model.For the ecosovereignist party, protecting local trade is a city policy comparable to housing regulation. "If we regulate residential rents so that people can continue living in their neighborhoods, we must also protect the businesses that make daily life possible. Without local trade, neighborhoods lose their identity and cease to be neighborhoods," concluded Pujol.

MÉS per Palma denounces that the Partit Popular government in Cort has decided to open the door to companies and investment funds being able to buy subsidized housing. This decision, in their opinion, turns protected housing into "a new business for large speculators and directly harms the citizens of Palma". As they detailed at a press conference, until now, this subsidized housing was reserved for families who needed a home to live in.

MÉS per Palma has attacked this Monday the reform promoted by the PP and Vox Government through the Omnibus Law, which plans to reduce by up to 80% the sanctions imposed for illegal tourist rental if owners incorporate the homes into certain public rental programs.

"We must progressively municipalize developable land to end speculation and ensure that housing becomes a right again." With this proposal, the candidate for mayor of MÉS per Palma, David Pujol, today called for a profound change in housing and urban planning policies to confront what he considers "the great challenge of our generation." According to Pujol, the housing crisis demands abandoning timid policies and decisively intervening in a market that, he denounces, "has turned a fundamental right into a business." "We must remove housing from market logic and make houses what they have always been: homes to live in".

It is the first time that an independent leads a list since MÉS per Mallorca was founded. David Pujol (Palma, 1980) will lead the MÉS per Palma candidacy in the municipal elections of 2027, with Xisca Mir as number two. He says these are tumultuous times and that precisely for this reason he is taking this step, in search of a broad left-wing front. However, he is also aware that he is racing against time and that the far-right wave is difficult to stop.

MÉS per Palma has accused the City Council of "imposing a gag" on residents after the removal of a campaign against noise that several associations had placed in some neighborhoods of the city.

The MÉS per Palma Primary Commission proclaimed this Tuesday the candidacy led by David Pujol and Xisca Mir to head the party's list in the 2027 Palma municipal elections. The primary process concluded on Monday, when the deadline for submitting candidacies ended, and Pujol and Mir's was the only one registered.

The Catalan teacher David Pujol and the party coordinator in Palma, Xisca Mir, have taken a step forward this Wednesday and have put themselves forward to lead the MÉS per Palma candidacy. At the doors of Cort, they announced that they will run as number one and two respectively in the party's primaries with a view to the upcoming municipal elections.
