Hundreds of dead fish and thousands more at risk. This is the scene that the Riuet de l’Illot, a wetland located between the municipalities of Manacor and Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, has left this weekend. The recent rains and strong winds, which particularly affected the coast of Manacor between Thursday and Friday, have washed dirt and debris into the Riuet, adding to the sewage discharges that still occur in the area.

A 52-year-old British man has drowned in the pool of a hotel in El Islote where he was staying during his vacation. According to 061, early this morning, workers at the tourist establishment found the man floating face down in the pool and notified the Emergency Services.
