Calvià will receive 16.8 million euros from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) corresponding to the 2026-2027 Annual Plan. Of this amount, 8.8 million will be allocated to seven municipal projects for urban renewal, renaturation, and heritage recovery, while almost 8 million will fund specific actions in Magaluf.

The Calvià Town Hall has regretted the "irresponsible" attitude of the lifeguards' union, which has announced a strike for Sunday, coinciding with one of the weekends with the highest expected attendance at the municipality's beaches. The mayor of Calvià has signed a municipal decree due to the 2026 Football World Cup, which will take place between June 11 and July 19. The document establishes a series of rules aimed at reconciling the development of leisure activities with safety, citizen coexistence, and the rest of residents and tourists.The text establishes an exceptional time regulation for broadcasting certain matches. According to the City Council, through a statement, if a match starts within the establishment's ordinary opening hours, it will not be necessary to stop the activity of the premises or the terrace at the usual closing time, thus avoiding clients being left without seeing the end. Establishments will be able to extend closing time up to 15 minutes after the end of the match, including extra time and penalty shootouts. It is important to note that this time exception will apply exclusively to matches played by the national teams of Spain, Germany, England, and Scotland, in addition to the semi-final matches, the final, and the third-place play-off.Conversely, if the match starts at or after the official closing time of the public establishment, it will not be able to keep its doors open and must strictly adhere to the time stipulated in the ordinary license.The decree consolidates a series of coexistence rules that were already implemented during Eurocopa 2024, an event that took place with complete normality in Calvià under these same guidelines: in terraces and outdoor areas, from midnight the audio emission must be completely suppressed, and the volume will be set to zero. Only the visual signal of the matches may be broadcast to ensure the rest of neighbors and tourists.Likewise, screens and televisions must always be oriented towards the inside of establishments. The measure aims to prevent public space crowds that could hinder the passage of pedestrians and road traffic.The Calvià Town Hall warns that non-compliance with the provisions of this decree, as well as with the applicable Municipal Ordinances, will be subject to sanction. Therefore, establishment owners are appealed to collaborate in preventing any disturbance to safety and coexistence.

The Administrative Litigation Court number 3 of Palma has ruled in favor of UGT and declared null the appointment for job improvement of the Calvià Police sub-inspector published on April 11, 2025. As reported by the union, the court has fully upheld the lawsuit filed by UGT Serveis Púbrics and has annulled the temporary provision of this position, ruling that it was carried out through a process that violated current legislation.

The partial collapse of a hotel in Calvià on Thursday night led to the partial evacuation of the establishment and the sealing off of the affected area, as reported by the Mallorca Fire Department. Two people sustained minor injuries, both with superficial wounds and one case of fainting. This Friday, the property's management has decided to close the hotel for safety reasons, and guests are being relocated to other hotels in the area.

The Calvià Town Council, governed by the People's Party and Vox, has finalized its agreement for the 2026 municipal budget, which totals €121.57 million – €152 million if the consolidated budget including public companies and organizations is included – figures similar to the previous year. The Council maintains that the budget consolidates financial stability and allows for planning for the next fiscal year. The municipal government states that the budget continues the improvement of public services, with a particular focus on citizen security, and strengthens social, cultural, and educational policies. One of the key points is investment in infrastructure: €43 million is earmarked over the course of this term, the highest figure ever recorded in the municipality. Among the highlighted projects are the second phase of the Gabriel Escarrer seafront promenade renovation (Magaluf), the refurbishment of Jaime I Avenue in Santa Ponça and the Peguera Boulevard, as well as the modernization of the houses on the Galatzó public estate and the Torrenova development. In the education sector, investments stemming from the agreement between IMEB and the Ministry of Education will continue, with €5.94 million allocated to improvements in 11 public preschool and primary schools. Free tuition for children aged 0-3 in municipal nurseries will also continue, along with year-round operation. The budget also includes the agreement with IB-Salut to build two new primary healthcare units in Son Ferrer and Peguera, and to relocate the existing one in Capdellà, with a planned investment of approximately €6 million. The City Council attributes the budget's approval to the support of the Balearic Government and the Council of Mallorca. The document is expected to be approved at an extraordinary plenary session, where the specific budget items and implementation schedule for 2026 will be detailed.

The coordinator of the United Left in Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez, stated this Wednesday that, in just over two years of government, "there has been no progress in social policies that improve the lives of residents in the municipality." Specifically, he highlighted the length of time it has taken to deliver the 99 social housing units in Santa Ponça. "It's been two years for a process that should have been completed in several months, and this delay has cost the successful bidders thousands of euros," he lamented.

The Calvià City Council has charged against the action queer which took place last Saturday in Peguera as part of the town's festivities. Specifically, the City Council, governed by the PP and Vox parties, has published a statement on social media naming two members of the neighborhood association, Peguera es Mou and a councilor from the PSIB.
