MÉS per Palma denounced this Friday the alleged use of single-use cups during the Patrona festival, organized by the Palma City Council, and demands that the municipal government explain whether the containers used complied with current regulations. The party has registered a request for information to find out what type of cups were used, the cost, the collection system, and the measures adopted to prevent waste.

The Barri Cívic association of Santa Catalina and el Jonquet has denounced the nuisances caused to residents by three consecutive days of amplified music at the Feixina park and has criticized that the Palma City Council has not responded to its requests regarding the authorized acoustic limits.

The second edition of La Patrona, the summer festival promoted by the Palma City Council to offer an alternative to the Sant Sebastià celebrations during the cold months, which took place this past Saturday, has generated criticism among some of the attendees. One of the voices that has publicly questioned the festival model has been the Majorcan DJ Aina Losange, who claimed to have felt "completely out of place" during the event held this Saturday at Parc de la Mar.

“Only one defeat can be sadder than a victory: the survivors cry for those who will be absent forever, others scream in pain [...] Then come the other heroes who pick up the trash and clean the streets of urine and plastic cups”.

About fifty people have participated in the creation of The Last Day of May: The Other Heroes, a short film linked to the events of May 31, 1550, and premiered this week in Pollença as part of the events leading up to the Patrona festival. The production, directed by Martí Pallicer, recovers a lesser-known part of that historical episode and focuses on characters who, despite having existed, are not part of the most popular narrative of the festival.
