The Parliament has initiated the processing of a reform of Balearic civil law that expands succession agreements between spouses and certain stable couples, develops the economic rules of marriage, and strengthens figures such as compensation for dedication to the family. The bill, promoted jointly by all parliamentary groups, passed its consideration stage last Tuesday with the support of all and the abstention of two non-attached deputies.

A study by the Intercoopera Foundation has highlighted the significant role of the social and care economy in Inca, one of the largest municipalities in the Balearic Islands. This report challenges common perceptions about the islands' economic drivers and demonstrates the importance of a sector centered on the collective interests of its citizens. In Inca, the social economy generates 12.37% of the municipality's annual wealth, amounting to €58.5 million annually. 69% of the municipality's organizations focus their activities on care and support for people in vulnerable situations. In terms of employment, this sector represents 13.75%, with 1,170 employees. These employment figures place the social economy on par with construction and far ahead of sectors like retail and hospitality. The report notes that it "is five times the size of the traditional footwear industry."

The Balearic Health Service (IB-Salut) will launch, from October 1, a new model of continued pediatric palliative care in the community, which will be operational 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The Regional Minister of Health, Manuela García, explained that this initiative aims to provide assistance to children and adolescents, and their families, with palliative care needs. In the Balearic Islands, it is expected that between 134 and 179 patients will require pediatric palliative care. The measure will allow those affected to receive continuous care from their referral teams and also spend as much time as possible at home, with maximum comfort and dignity until the end of their lives. Currently, the autonomous regions that offer continuous pediatric palliative care are Madrid, Catalonia, and Murcia.
