The Formentera Island Council has filed objections against the proposed law that seeks to repeal Law 2/2018, on democratic memory and recognition, highlighting in particular the importance of Es Campament, a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), declared a historical site in 2014 by the Council. According to the document, Es Campament is the only remaining structure of a former prison camp on the island and one of the few such sites preserved in Spain. This unique status, recognized in the Formentera Cultural Heritage Catalogue, justifies its comprehensive protection and enhancement as a space of collective memory and historical interest. The Council warns that repealing the Law of Democratic Memory could jeopardize the institutional recognition of sites like Es Campament, which are essential for preserving the recent history and cultural identity of Formentera. Final court rulings, including that of the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands, uphold the declaration of Es Campament as a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) and reject appeals against this protection. With this initiative, the Consell reaffirms its commitment to preserving the island's historical heritage and collective memory, highlighting Es Campament as a space for shared knowledge and remembrance.

The Formentera Council has reported to the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard the discovery of several bags containing the skeletal remains of dogs and other animals found inside a rocky cavity in the Cabo area of Formentera. According to a statement from the island institution, an environmental agent located the remains and alerted both animal health technicians and Civil Guard investigators. Following an initial inspection, veterinary services confirmed that the remains are dog bones in a state of decomposition, which apparently were deposited there years ago. Other waste of various kinds was also found at the same location, including bags containing the remains of about twenty animals. Now, according to information provided by the Council, Seprona will be in charge of conducting the investigation to clarify the origin and circumstances of this illegal dumping. The island council has reiterated the importance of properly managing animal waste to preserve the territory and guarantee the island's health and environmental safety.

The Formentera Island Council has closed an establishment located in the Natural Park until the safety deficiencies detected are corrected, in addition to the sealing of the music installation.
