The Civil Guard has dismantled a marijuana plantation and a hashish production lab in a house near the Marratxí industrial park (Mallorca). A total of 50 kilos of dried buds, ready for processing and sale, and 260 grams of hashish were seized. A 46-year-old man was also arrested, the Civil Guard Command in the Balearic Islands reported. The investigation began at the end of last year following numerous complaints and reports filed by residents of the Marratxí industrial park and nearby housing developments, as well as by the administration of a local high school, regarding the persistent strong smell of marijuana. Once the suspected source was located, officers placed it under close surveillance and observed numerous people entering the premises to purchase narcotics. It wasn't until last Tuesday that investigators searched the property and found 260 grams of hashish, several marijuana plants, and 50 kilos of dried buds ready for sale or for processing into hashish resin using chemicals. They also seized €6,400 in cash, a sporting bow with over a hundred arrows, and several large machetes. The alleged person responsible for both the plantations and the laboratory was arrested. Technicians from an electric company went to the scene and confirmed that, despite the house's meter being tampered with and lacking a valid contract, its daily consumption was equivalent to that of 15 properties.

The Balearic Islands Provincial Court has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for killing one of the thieves who broke into his property in Inca intending to steal marijuana plants. The three thieves who were with the murdered man were each sentenced to one year in prison, according to the Balearic Islands High Court (TSJIB).

The Civil Guard in Sineu is investigating two men, aged 79 and 21, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health, related to the seizure of 3,000 marijuana plants in the municipality of Lloret de Vistalegre. The events date back to the morning of Wednesday, January 21. The Lloret Local Police were alerted to a fight between neighbors on the Pina countryside road, an area very close to the communal land. Officers went to the scene and tried to mediate the altercation, but seeing that the situation was becoming dangerous and uncontrollable, they notified the Civil Guard in Sineu.

The jury trial of the man accused of killing one of the assailants who broke into his home to steal marijuana plants began this Monday at the Provincial Court of Palma. The prosecutor asserted in the first session that "there is more than enough evidence for a conviction" and maintained that there is no dispute that the accused caused the victim's death. The hearing began after 1 p.m., following the selection of the jury, which will determine the guilt or innocence of both the homeowner, accused of homicide, and the other three men, charged with attempted robbery. The prosecution is requesting a 15-year prison sentence for the homeowner and 11 months for each of the three assailants. It is also seeking approximately €157,000 in compensation for the victim's family. During the preliminary hearing and the reading of the initial reports, the prosecutor emphasized that "the fact that the accused killed a person is not in dispute" and that the evidence presented supports a conviction. The defense attorneys for the mother, sister, and father of the deceased young man went further, arguing that the events constitute not manslaughter, but murder, based on two aggravating circumstances: surprise and cruelty. They argued that the victim was attacked from behind and received "a large number of stab wounds" until he bled to death. "It wasn't a three-on-one situation, but rather an unarmed person who was surprised and repeatedly stabbed," stated the lawyer for the young man's father.

The National Police, following a report of a couple's argument, have dismantled an indoor marijuana plantation in a home in Ciutadella and arrested a man and a woman as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health. During the operation, €8,877 in bills, 46 marijuana plants, and 284 grams of marijuana buds prepared for sale were seized, according to Europa Press.
