The Valldemossa daycare center will close in two weeks, on November 19, after five years of operating under an expired public contract. The company currently managing the center, according to a statement from the Balearic Islands branch of the CCOO union, has already officially announced its intention to withdraw from the service.

The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities has inaugurated the new Guillem Ballester i Cerdó nursery school in the municipality of Muro. This early childhood education center with capacity for 74 places is directly managed by the regional government. Starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, the Ministry of Education and Universities, through the General Directorate of Early Childhood, Diversity, and Educational Improvement, will expand its direct involvement in the management of early childhood education centers (0-3 years) to three daycare centers and will add dedicated classrooms to eight primary and secondary schools throughout the Balearic Islands. Specifically, the new daycare centers managed by the Ministry will be the Escoleta Infantil (EI) Ca Baix Sol (Marratxí), the EI Santa Eulària, and the EI Sant Rafael (San Antonio de Portmany), with adapted classrooms for babies, children from 1 to 2 years old, and children from 2 to 3 years old, according to a statement released Thursday.
