The cross-accusations regarding the controversy of the Son Reus municipal animal shelter continue. After Palma City Council described some of the reported irregularities as an "isolated incident" or "false", UGT Public Services has once again maintained that the negligence at the center is "repeated".

The UGT union has called off the strike at the Son Reus Animal Welfare Center managed by the concessionaire Athisa, which began on August 24, amid accusations of strikebreaking, and has announced a legal offensive. The union organization explained that it is withdrawing the protest after confirming the neutralization of the pressure measure as a direct consequence of the “serious and illegal external strikebreaking perpetrated by the municipal management of the Palma City Council”.

UGT Public Services reported this Thursday that the strike in protest against precariousness at the Son Reus municipal kennels, in Palma, which began indefinitely last Monday at 2 p.m., has one hundred percent follow-up. The staff is complying in a "strict and scrupulous" manner with the minimum services decreed, despite considering that they are curtailing their fundamental right to strike, the union assured.

UGT public services continues with the strike call at the Son Reus kennel, scheduled for next Monday, in protest against precarious working conditions at the Palma animal care center, as no agreement was reached at the meeting before the Arbitration Court, Tamib. The union has regretted that the mediation carried out this Thursday at the arbitration court – as a prior step in any strike call – has concluded without an agreement.

The Palma City Council will demolish the building of the Son Reus municipal animal protection health center to build two new ones. The Governing Board approved this Wednesday the contracting file to tender the works and services necessary to erect a new administrative building and another auxiliary one. The project has a base tender budget of 1,986,409.23 euros (VAT included) and, according to the spokesperson for the municipal government team, Mercedes Celeste, it is "a decisive step in the modernization of municipal facilities that had not experienced any action of this magnitude for years".

The labor situation at the Son Reus municipal landfill in Palma has entered a phase of open conflict. The UGT union has announced staff mobilizations starting July 17th due to the "serious labor precariousness" and lack of safety in a service considered essential for the city.

Palma City Council has initially approved two basic projects for the construction of two buildings on the grounds of the Son Reus Municipal Animal Protection Center. According to a report this Thursday by the Councilor for Social Services, Lourdes Roca, and reported by Europa Press, the first is for the creation of an administrative building to replace the current one, located on the same plot. This new building will adapt to the surroundings and the uneven terrain, improving its integration into the center as a whole, facilitating access and creating a more welcoming space. The existing building, measuring approximately 200 square meters, houses administrative functions that will be maintained in the new building, integrating work areas, meeting rooms, classrooms, storage rooms, and changing rooms. The budget is €1.3 million, and the expected completion time is ten months. The second approved project is for the construction of a new, independent auxiliary building in the Son Reus complex.
