The labor dispute at the Foundation for Dependency Care is escalating again. Workers are not ruling out further protests due to the delay in implementing the salary increase agreed upon with the government in October, a commitment that ended the indefinite strike at the end of 2025. The workers are concerned about the lack of clarity in the signed agreement, especially regarding the payment of salary supplements and outstanding back pay. The CSIF union, which holds a majority on the committee, warns that the government has not only failed to pay any of the promised amounts but is also continuing to increase its debt to the workers. The agreement stipulated that the arrears corresponding to all of 2025 had to be paid before January 31, 2026. According to the union, the Minister of Families, Social Welfare, and Dependency Care, Sandra Fernández, formally informed the committee of the "complexity" of the reports required by the Directorate General of Public Service. This explanation is considered insufficient and unjustifiable by the workers' representatives, especially given that the salary supplements—which represent an improvement of between 4,200 and 6,300 euros gross per year—are included in the Decree-Law on urgent measures regarding social services, approved by the Governing Council and ratified. "The disappointment has been immense. It's a blatant disregard not only for the workers, but also for the service users and the families of dependent individuals," stated Marina Martínez, president of the inter-center committee, who criticized the government for prioritizing "photo ops" over action. The committee warns that the foundation's situation remains critical and demands the immediate payment of all outstanding benefits, without installments or further delays. If there is no clear and immediate response from the government, the workers warn that they will take to the streets again.

This is the lowest incidence since this indicator began to be recorded in 2003, although it remains slightly above the national average of 6.95. According to data from the Directorate General of Public Health, provided on the occasion of World AIDS Day – which is celebrated on December 1st with the slogan 'Zero AIDS deaths by 2030'–Mallorca accounts for 69 of the infections; Ibiza and Formentera, 23; and Menorca, 5. Regarding the profile of those affected, the majority continue to be men (75), although there has been a notable increase in cases among women, rising from 12 infections in 2023 to 22 this year. Among men, however, the number has decreased from 89 to 75. The transmission routes follow the usual trend: 50 cases among men who have sex with men, 42 in heterosexual relationships, two in intravenous drug users, and one from mother-to-child transmission. In two cases, the origin could not be determined. The most frequent age group for new diagnoses is between 30 and 49 years old, accounting for 59% of cases. The percentage of people born outside of Spain also increased slightly, from 53% to 56%. The Ministry of Health notes that the highest rate recorded to date was in 2008, with 209 infections and an incidence rate that reached 19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

"We are closely monitoring the selection processes for displaced teachers, the eliminated positions, and the teachers who are returning to the force. We monitor the allocation of service commissions, the competitive examination processes, the selection of temporary teaching positions, and we help people who have finished their degree and don't know how to access teaching. Because for teachers, union representative of the STEI, who estimates that there are 10 summer days when they can truly disconnect from work. The unions consulted agree on the same idea: "We have practically no vacation time. If anything, it starts in August, and it depends on how the temporary teacher allocations go. "It's usually about two weeks," explains Miquel Àngel Santos, of Alternativa Docent.
