The Regional Ministry of Education is processing a resolution that regulates leave for personal matters for tenured teaching staff, a right that already exists for other public employees, but which until now had not been specifically developed for this group. Temporary teachers will be able to enjoy the same leave if they fill a vacant or program position and start during the first two months of the school year. In other cases, the number of days will be calculated proportionally to the actual working time, with the understanding that 175 school days worked (a full school year) are equivalent to the six full days of leave.

In the Balearic Islands, there is a shortage of doctors. And nurses. And anesthesiologists. And pediatricians. And gynecologists. There is a shortage of hands, a shortage of minds, and a shortage of staff. There are public hospitals where on-call coverage for some specialties isn't guaranteed, where certain specialties simply can't be offered; there are centers where births are referred elsewhere because there isn't enough staff, and now there is an announced doctors' strike which, beyond the legitimate labor reasons, will end up swelling waiting lists that are already driving patients to despair. The diagnosis is becoming serious, but treatment is pending.

The Valencian Ministry of Education wants to move the 2026 teacher recruitment exams to May so that all vacancies are filled from the first day of the school year. According to the department, the change in schedule would allow the main administrative procedures, the allocation of positions, and processes related to substitute teachers to be concentrated in July, thus preventing the school year from starting with unfilled positions. The exams are expected to take place in early May, instead of June, as has been the norm until now. The Ministry argues that this reorganization of the schedule is based on planning and efficiency criteria and points out that other autonomous communities already hold their recruitment exams around similar dates. The Ministry also argues that bringing the exams forward will facilitate greater staff stability and better organization of schools in preparation for the start of the school year. However, the decision has been met with opposition from unions. Sources from the Independent, Autonomous, and Unitary Union (SIAU) denounce "the constant contempt shown by the Ministry of Education towards teachers, especially those preparing for competitive examinations and temporary teachers working illegally." The union criticizes the fact that the decision was communicated "with only a few months' notice and without any prior planning or dialogue," which, they claim, is "yet another example of improvisation, irresponsibility, and a complete lack of consideration for the educational community."

The family, the street, the world of work, and the media no longer play the same role they did decades ago. This change cannot be interpreted through the lens of nostalgia for an idealized past, often imbued with a conservative and even authoritarian morality, as has also been the case in our own society. Many of the social changes of the last century, both in Europe and in Spain and the Balearic Islands, have been clearly liberating and humanizing.

The leaked documents included the plaintiffs' personal information, as well as details of the legal proceedings. After learning of the incident, Manacor City Council officials filed a complaint regarding the alleged unauthorized access to their computer system and the publication of confidential data. The Local Judicial Police Brigade then began investigating the matter. In recent weeks, the National Police were able to confirm that no hacker had attacked the City Council's computer system. The officers analyzed all the computer access logs for the specific documents containing the published data and ruled out external access via electronic means, thus focusing the investigation on the City Council itself.

This year's teaching competitive examinations for secondary and vocational education have left 3,818 of 15,947 vacancies unfilled across Spain, a "serious problem" for the new academic year, as it means that 23.8% of the state's vacancies have not been awarded. These are data compiled by CSIF, whose president, Mario Gutiérrez, denounces the fact that "a quarter of the competitive examination places have been left unfilled, which in itself is serious." "But if you add to this a temporary employment rate above 30%, a shortage of staff in certain specialties, and the low attractiveness of new teaching graduates, this denotes a very serious problem for the Spanish education system," he explained in statements to EFE.
