The City Council and the management teams of the public and state-subsidized schools in Manacor were put out of play when the Ministry of Education informed them that the municipality, until now divided into four school zoning areas (Manacor, Portocristo, Son Macià, and l’Illot), would become a single zone, as is the case in the rest of Mallorca's municipalities except for four: Calvià, Andratx, Selva, and Santa Margalida.

According to the school's faculty assembly, "despite the rush to eliminate the public school places that are to be integrated into the future CIFP Politécnico, it remains in its infancy and doesn't even have a project plan." In fact, the teachers have requested information from the Ministry of Education about the project's status. The response has been clear: "The implementation of the new educational facilities is in a very early preliminary design phase, therefore the requested project plan is not available." For now, the closure process continues. Thus, in the 2025-2026 academic year, the first year of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) has been eliminated, a second year ESO group has been created, and the first year of Bachillerato (Upper Secondary Education) has been eliminated. For the 2026-2027 academic year, the second year of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education), one third-year ESO group, and the second year of Bachillerato (Upper Secondary Education) will be eliminated. The elimination of ESO and Bachillerato studies will continue during the 2027-2028 academic year with the elimination of the third year of ESO and one fourth-year ESO group, while in the 2028-2029 academic year, the last fourth-year ESO group will be eliminated.

After nine days of strikes, the families of the Maria Antònia Salvà Primary School have decided to suspend their protest and allow their children to return to classrooms and start the school year, as announced at a press conference on Monday. The change in strategy came after it was confirmed that Miquel Roldán, a teacher at the school convicted of child abuse, has received medical leave from his family doctor. Years ago, according to the families, the teacher had problems with former students of the school, whom he would visit at the Son Pacs Secondary School and even enrolled in a vocational training program to coincide with them during break time. The intervention of the school's management team prevented this.

The Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, has explained that the Spanish government does not plan legislative changes to prevent a professor convicted of harassing a former student from practicing. This controversy arises after the problems experienced in the Maria Antònia Salvà school (Son Sardina)where Miquel RoldánHe has a temporary position and parents have refused to bring their children as a symbol of protest.

The Llucmajor City Council has completed the partial demolition of the Urbanizaciones Primary School, a project carried out in compliance with a court ruling and costing €1.3 million. From that moment on, the Ministry of Education will assume leadership of the next stage, focusing on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected spaces, with the aim of restoring the school to normal operations as soon as possible, according to Efe.
