Vicenç Vidal, the MÉS deputy for Mallorca and Més for Menorca, affiliated with the Sumar plurinational group, has submitted a bill to Congress to limit home purchases by individuals. He explained this on Friday at a press conference at the MÉS headquarters in Palma, where he warned that 24,000 rental contracts will expire this year, affecting approximately 69,000 people in the Balearic Islands. "In January, a historic record was broken: the price per square meter is over €5,000 in the Balearic Islands," Vidal emphasized, accusing the Balearic Islands' president, Marga Prohens, and the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, of "failing to address this scandal." The initiative proposed by the deputy modifies Article 10 of the Housing Law to limit purchases to individuals and prohibit vulture funds from operating in the market.

Congress has given the green light to process the law to safeguard multilingualism in the State, promoted by ERC, Comuns, Bildu, PNV, BNG, MÁS per Mallorca, and Compromís. Despite not having proposed it, both the PSOE and Junts also voted in favor of the initiative. This proposed organic law guaranteeing multilingualism and the linguistic rights of citizens aims to ensure that any citizen can exercise the right to interact in Basque, Galician, or Catalan with the judicial bodies, constitutional institutions, and the general administration of the State "with full freedom." The authors of the initiative introduce clear obligations for language proficiency in the justice system, the civil service, and public procurement, and provide tools to ensure respect for the right to choose one's language.

The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) in Congress has accused the Prime Minister, Marga Prohens, of being "the new voice" against immigration, and has also asked her what she would do "if the immigrant population of the Balearic Islands went on strike, what would happen in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera?"

Vicenç Vidal, a member of Congress for Sumar MÁS, said this Monday that he feels "deeply aggravated by the inconsistent and inhuman attitude of Marga Prohens's government" in relation to the Prime Minister's recent attitude toward the arrival of migrants. For the lower house member, "the priority in a situation like the one we are experiencing is the defense of human rights and common sense."
