Two minors, aged 16 and 17, were seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Friday night in Portocristo, in the municipality of Manacor. The accident occurred at 11:45 p.m. on Joan Servera Camps Avenue, according to SAMU 061 (the emergency medical service). The two youths were riding the motorcycle when, for reasons still unknown, they collided with a car occupied only by the driver. The impact caused them multiple injuries. Emergency services treated them at the scene and subsequently transported them to two hospitals. One of the minors was taken to Son Espases University Hospital, while the other was admitted to Son Llàtzer University Hospital. According to the same sources, one of the injured is in critical condition and the other is in serious condition. The circumstances of the accident are under investigation.

If you haven't been numbed by yet another alarming and sensationalist headline, I think we can agree that the overall appearance of the beach is quite different from what we all have after a few decades, as can be seen in the attached photographs (we don't know history, and personal memory is very reputable). Unfortunately, this is not a phenomenon exclusive to Portocristo, and many coves in our area are already suffering the effects of coastal regression to a greater or lesser extent. As with the vast majority of phenomena, this situation is not due to a single cause; multiple factors influence, interact, and magnify it.
