The organization describes these figures as "remarkable results due to their stability" and emphasizes that consumption trends are consolidating sobrasada as a benchmark product. Last year, the Balearic Islands accounted for 36.7% of the market, representing a 3% increase compared to 2024, thus confirming the product's recognition in its region of origin. The rest of Spain remains the main driver of sales, representing 59.3% of the total, despite a relative decrease of 2.7%, as production increased by 0.5%.

The godfather walked with a steady stride despite his age, a man well-versed in the trails and shortcuts. Autumn was in full swing, and the rains had soaked the earth. The long-awaited moment had arrived. A pine forest nestled in the shade awaited them. Bushes grew wild, along with the occasional holm oak and the finest mushrooms in the region. The godfather's godfather knew the place, and his great-godfathers before them. The man bent down and showed his grandson how to pick them, always with respect and gratitude. Before leaving, with his basket full, he pointed out the landmarks so they could return when he was gone; markings on the trees and stones, invisible to others. The secret had been passed down.

However, officially there is no general restriction on the purchase of animals—either live or slaughtered—and the measures only affect the 91 municipalities in the area where the 13 infected wild boars were found. This business decision reflects the concern of the Balearic meat sector, which is heavily dependent on pork from Catalonia, accounting for up to 70% of its processed meat production. Both the pork used for direct consumption and that used for sausage production comes primarily from mainland Spain, and a significant percentage of it comes from Catalonia. For this reason, Balearic businesses and government officials are closely monitoring the evolution of the African swine fever outbreak, aware that any incident could have direct effects on a key product of the Balearic agribusiness, especially regarding the export of sobrasada, the sector's flagship product.
