The Urban Planning Department of the Palma City Council has granted a permit this Tuesday to demolish the building located at number 27 on 31 de Diciembre street, a construction designed by the architect Gaspar Bennàssar, with the condition of preserving the facade. The action will allow for the construction of a new multi-family building with a total of 15 homes, as well as parking spaces and storage rooms.

The bell tower of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Manacor (also known as the Ruby Tower) didn't have a clock until well into the 20th century, in the 1920s, after the official completion of the neo-Gothic church. That's why, when it was purchased, it wasn't the Bishopric of Mallorca that covered the cost, but the City Council itself, which paid for the four clock faces and the internal mechanism.

The Socialist group on the Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council) has submitted a formal request to the Department of Historical Heritage to halt the imminent demolition of the building designed by Gaspar Bennàssar in 1926 on Calle del 31 de Diciembre, on the corner of Antoni Marquès, in Palma.
