The former Son Busquets barracks has become one of the protagonists of Open House Palma 2025The festival, which has opened some sixty buildings for its fifth edition, has generated particular interest in the site, which until decades ago was linked to the Artillery. The organizers explained that the site is undergoing a profound urban transformation, which will position it as one of Palma's most ambitious regeneration projects.

The urban landscape of each of us is made up of a large number of buildings that, in the collective imagination, are little more than a facade: we walk past them every day and often know almost nothing about them. Not who built them, what decisions were made, or what stories lie hidden within. For the fifth consecutive year, the Open House festival, which takes place between November 10 and 16 in Palma, invites us to fill in all these gaps. It does so with some sixty openings that include historic and modern buildings, as well as public and private spaces, allowing us to explore the city's past and present, and imagine its future, with the simple act of walking through the doors around us. Here are four of the buildings that are part of this year's edition.

The former Son Busquets barracks, currently undergoing renovation, will be one of the highlights of this fifth edition of the Open House Palma festival, which will hold its open house on the weekend of November 15th and 16th. However, the program will begin on Monday the 10th, with diverse activities designed to bring architecture "to those who are not architects," as the organizers describe it. Throughout the week, heritage, design, and urban planning enthusiasts can participate in talks, workshops, and tours of different neighborhoods in the city, such as Son Gotleu, Cala Major, and El Amanecer, among others, with the aim of including areas further from the historic center in discussions about growth and development.

Open House Palma has now opened the registration period for all those interested to join as volunteers. As detailed in a press release, to be part of the fourth edition of the architecture festival, "no previous knowledge of urban planning and design is necessary. All that's needed is a desire to showcase the city's heritage, both ancient and contemporary."
