The Nit de l’Art celebrated its 30th anniversary on Saturday with more than 50 exhibitions and the participation of over a hundred artists. The event brought together galleries, museums, and cultural spaces in Palma, but also in Andratx, Pollença, and Santanyí.

La Nit de l’Art always fills Palma with exhibitions and people who come to celebrate. But it ends, and the galleries remain open. The shows inaugurated these days offer a good opportunity to return calmly, look at the works without rushing, and discover proposals that deserve a visit beyond the Night. Below, we take a tour among the many possible ones of some of the most outstanding exhibitions shown by the city's galleries.

There are not many cultural initiatives around us that can boast of having reached 30 years. The Nit de l’Art has achieved this, and that is no small feat. Born in 1997 as an initiative by some gallery owners in Palma such as Pep Pinya (Pelaires), Xavier Fiol, and Joan Guaita, among others, it was conceived with the desire to join forces—perhaps thinking that the more there are, the more noise is made—and, above all, with the purpose of bringing art closer to the citizenry. It has been many years since the Nit de l’Art achieved a good part of these objectives. But what does it leave us and what could the Nit de l’Art leave behind, with the strength it has gathered in these 30 years? Perhaps it is a good time to ask ourselves that.

The Palma City Council has organized a new edition of the Young Art Night, a program that will take place this Saturday, September 19th, coinciding with the celebration of the Night of Art in different spaces of the city. The initiative will offer activities at the Plaça del Tub and the Espai Jove Llevant, two spaces that will host the proposals and creations of young artists from different disciplines, as well as musical performances, poetry recitals, and participatory activities.

Algaida will become this weekend a great open-air art space on the occasion of the tenth edition of Algaid'Art. The festival of the arts will be held this Saturday, September 12th, and Sunday, September 13th, and will bring together hundreds of artists in more than 30 exhibition spaces spread throughout the municipality.

La Nit de l'Art will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary this year, becoming one of Mallorca's major cultural events. The event, which will open the exhibition season on September 19, will commemorate three decades of history after consolidating itself as a meeting point for artists, gallery owners, collectors, and industry professionals, as well as being one of the main platforms for the dissemination of contemporary art in the Balearic Islands.

Galleries, museums and other art centers will forgive us, but if we understand art as a way of representing reality with a certain critical spirit, the most artistic scene that has been experienced in Palma this Saturday, September 20, the day in which the twenty-ninth edition of the Night of Art was held, was Chopin. There a series of unusual events occurred, images that had little or nothing to do, apparently, with each other, but that, due to their coincidence, served as a precise definition of current times.

Palma City Council has denied permission to hold an event in solidarity with Palestine as part of the Night of Art event taking place this Saturday in Palma. The permit had been formally submitted by the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Palma.

Everything is ready for the twenty-ninth edition of the Noche del Arte (Art Night), which, with more than one hundred artists and fourteen galleries, confirms a trend that has grown in recent years: it's an event that has not only consolidated itself in the city's cultural calendar, but has grown year after year, especially in recent years. Thus, on the verge of beginning its third decade of existence—because no one hides the fact that the intention is to throw a big party next year, to mark its thirtieth anniversary, and that this year it's time for a sort of dress rehearsal—the September 20th edition is expected to be one of the most crowded of the Noche del Arte (Art Night).
