The Prime Minister, Marga Prohens, has criticized the "irresponsible" extraordinary regularization of migrants which the Council of Ministers plans to approve this Tuesday, and he believes it will contribute to a "new pull factor" in the Balearic Islands. He expressed this sentiment in a message posted on his social media account after learning of the agreement between the PSOE and Podemos parties to approve this measure by royal decree.

The Ministry of Youth and Children responded forcefully to the Government's request to declare an extraordinary migration emergency in the Balearic Islands, as it "does not meet the necessary requirements, which are objective and technical in nature," sources from the Ministry confirmed to ARA Baleares. With a standard reception capacity of 406 places, the islands would need to exceed 1,218 minors to activate this mechanism, and at the time of the request there were 694. According to the same sources, the figures "demonstrate that an institutional confrontation is being sought, because they are demanding something with full awareness that technically speaking."
