The festival will take place in Palma at three points throughout the year: March, October, and the Christmas holidays. The first block will be held this March, kicking off on the 13th with a grand opening gala at the Teatro Principal in Palma, featuring María Terremoto and Mala Rodríguez in a unique performance that combines flamenco and rap. The program continues on March 15th at the Es Gremi venue with dancer La Tania, one of the leading figures in contemporary flamenco. On March 17th, the Xesc Forteza Theatre will host a concert by artists who have received grants from the festival. On the 19th, Es Baluard Museu will host guitarist Mercedes Luján, who will share the stage with Rancapino Chico. The first section will conclude on March 21st at the Fundació Miró Mallorca with an intergenerational concert and workshop dedicated to ceramic ocarinas and flutes, in a program that combines music, crafts, and sound experimentation. Festival director Soledad Bescós highlighted during the presentation—held this Thursday at Palma City Hall—that the project, now five years old, has "built a solid artistic community and its own identity," keeping alive the creative legacy of Paco de Lucía. Following this first block, the festival will resume in October, with a renewed focus on female talent and the participation of Queralt Lahoz, a leading figure in new urban flamenco. The organizers also announced that a top-tier international artist will be joining the lineup soon.

"And let it be known that we're happy, because we have bands performing this year. The problem isn't with the specific content of each year, but with the overall idea. It's as if the City Council isn't clear on what it's trying to achieve with the festival's program, and I think nobody knows anymore what the concept behind it is. But we're producing a model that just keeps going. We do it out of inertia, and because we haven't sufficiently explored the possible alternatives," he adds. Sancho's opinion is shared by numerous musicians, promoters, and cultural managers, as well as by a large part of the public who attend the Ciutat festival year after year. "Regardless of the political affiliation of the City Council, there hasn't been the courage to change course and hold only two or three major concerts, filling the rest with local festivities, or to complement the celebrations with a program in venues and theaters. And I know I'm shooting myself in the foot," says Àngel Pujol, head of management and music production. "But in San Sebastián, we always find ourselves in the same place, having the same conversations and arriving at the same diagnosis. It's time for a real, open, and constructive public debate to decide what model we want," he proposes.

The program champions the stage as a space for critical thinking, community cohesion, and artistic risk-taking, with a focus rooted in the local area and open to social transformation. The season will open on January 17th with a concert that sets the tone for the cycle: Jazz Flamenco, featuring Toni Cuenca and Benji Habichuela. These two artists, whose careers have been linked to figures such as Paco de Lucía, María del Mar Bonet, and Buika, will present a performance that fuses jazz and flamenco through improvisation, singing, and dance, in a dialogue between musical universes that symbolizes the spirit of encounter and creative freedom that the theater aims to foster. The winter performance program combines major works and contemporary creation with productions of strong social content. Leading companies and artists such as Producciones de Hierro, La Impaciencia, Colectivo NINS, La Fornal de Espectáculos, Teatro Nu, Om Imprebís, and Toni Albà will participate. Titles such as Cyrano, Plum, Z/B (Zweig & Bernanos), Where do we come from? and 50 years of Memocracy, Among others, they create a diverse program that engages with the present through the stage.
