The Palma City Council has begun the process of expropriating the premises located in the basement of the Plaza Mayor, with an approximate total budget of 4.2 million euros. This was announced on Wednesday by the municipal spokesperson, Llorenç Bauzá, after the Governing Board meeting.

The Council of Mallorca has already signed the order to start the expropriation file of the Alaró CastleAccording to the Island Councilor for Territory, Mobility, and Infrastructure, Fernando Rubio, the island institution has taken this step "in accordance with the provisions of Law 4/2025, which establishes Alaró Castle as a general system of supra-municipal interest." Rubio emphasized that this concept was already promoted in the fourth amendment to the Territorial Plan of Mallorca with the aim of "protecting it so that it can belong to all Mallorcans."

The "Save Sa Marjal" platform has reported that the Balearic Government has launched a new route for the train that will connect Sa Pobla and Alcúdia. This, they explained in a post on their Facebook account, would not involve expropriations, as the route would run through public land.
