The renovation project of na Ferrilla street, in Inca, has been recognized as one of the 25 best public space works in Europe, within the framework of the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2026, one of the most prestigious awards in the field of architecture, landscape, and urbanism. The Inca City Council highlighted this Thursday that the award, biennial in nature, recognizes interventions that contribute to creating, recovering, and improving public spaces in European cities, to promote more accessible, inclusive, and quality environments.

The mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno, spends some time walking the 59 meters that separate the City Hall from one of the bars in front. Every two steps he stops to talk to someone. The Inca City Council established the Municipal Council for Democratic Memory this Tuesday, the first body of its kind created in the Balearic Islands. This initiative follows the approval of the Municipal Ordinance on Democratic Memory, which establishes the regulatory framework for promoting public policies of truth, justice, reparation, and guarantees of non-repetition. The inaugural meeting took place on February 24, a date laden with symbolism, coinciding with the anniversary of the execution of former Inca mayor Antoni Mateu Ferrer. The commemoration included historical context provided by the city's official chronicler, Miquel Pieras, who read Mateu Ferrer's farewell letter written before his execution, a particularly moving moment that served to highlight the human dimension of the repression and the need to preserve collective memory.

The Inca City Council has presented its 2026 budget, totaling €42.6 million, a 2.02% decrease compared to this year's budget. City Hall sources emphasized that this consolidates public finances as a fundamental instrument for continuing to "drive progress, well-being, and modernization of the city." Inca's mayor, Virgilio Moreno, stated that the budget is "realistic, responsible, and committed to the people," reinforcing "what works and promoting projects that will define the city's future." The budget allocation is as follows: 44.79% for essential services—including cleaning, security, water, and street lighting—10.66% for social services, 14.36% for education, culture, and sports, 19% for general services and technical support, and almost €6 million for economic development.

The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) of Inca has re-elected the town's mayor, Virgilio Moreno, as the party's general secretary in the municipality. He will have a new executive committee of 31 men and women that seeks to combine experience and youth.
