The National Court has agreed to repeat the trial, with a different court, for six defendants accused of forming a jihadist cell in Inca, who were acquitted of alleged crimes of terrorist indoctrination and recruitment.

The National Court has ordered the provisional imprisonment of the man arrested last Wednesday in Palma in an operation against jihadist terrorism. The suspect, who according to the National Police "intended to commit an action of great magnitude", has been brought before the court this Friday as the alleged perpetrator of crimes of terrorist indoctrination and self-indoctrination.

The National Police arrested the suspected leader of a jihadist cell linked to the Islamic State (Daesh) in Palma on Wednesday, in a joint operation with Moroccan authorities that also led to the arrest of two other people in Tangier. According to the investigation, the group financed terrorism and was planning a possible attack in Spain, which the arrested leader intended to be "a major operation." The arrest took place at a residence located at number 3 Gabriel Maura Street in the Balearic capital. The operation, directed by the National Court, involved the General Information Commissariat and the Provincial Information Brigade, in coordination with Moroccan authorities, in a simultaneous action that forms part of Operation Seula.

The National Court (Audiencia Nacional) has acquitted the six defendants accused of jihadist indoctrination in Inca, Mallorca, who possessed "particularly disturbing" videos with radical content. The court determined that, although they "sympathized with the tenets" of the Islamic State (ISIS/Daesh), these ideas "did not exceed the limits of ideological expression." This is stated in a ruling in which the court considers that there is no evidence to confirm that, by accessing the jihadist material, they "had the aim of training themselves to commit a terrorist act."

The First Section of the Administrative Chamber of the National Court has dismissed the appeal filed by the developer Edivissa seeking recognition of its right to obtain a coastal concession to operate the 9,215-square-meter plot of land that has been used for decades as a parking lot within the public domain and on the Alaior coast in southern Menorca. The judges rejected Edivissa's claim to recover the uses and rights it held before the current Coastal Law came into effect in 1988, when it did charge vehicles for parking, and upheld the decision made in February 2022 by the Ministry of the Environment. The fact that the parking lot was not authorized before the coastal delimitation, as proven by the Alaior Town Council, is essential for the Court, which concludes that "an unlicensed activity does not establish the right to continue it when it persists over time. The fact that the uses have been tolerated all these years does not imply a license." With this argument, the Court invalidates Edivissa's argument, which claimed that the plot has been used as a beach parking lot since 1973 and that the Coastal Law allows for the maintenance of uses existing prior to the 1988 delimitation, even if they are not legal. The developer maintains that "there was tacit authorization, since the operation of the parking lot was known and even promoted by the Alaior Town Council, which has carried out improvements to the esplanade." It even recalls that the Ministry of the Environment has endorsed the public interest of the parking facility, which Edivissa believes is "compatible" with the environmental values of the protected area in which it is located.
