The Federation of Business Owners of the Balearic Islands (Afedeco) has filed an appeal for reconsideration against the expansion and reorganization of the ORA in Palma within the scope of the Low Emission Zone (ZBE). The entity demands the suspension of the measures, scheduled for January 1, 2027, because it considers that the reduction of short-stay parking spaces could harm the commercial activity of the center.

The blue zone in Palma will double its ORA parking spaces starting in January 2027, when the system will go from the current 12,000 to about 24,000. The expansion will reach new neighborhoods in the city and will come into operation on January 1st. Residents of the streets that are being incorporated will be able to start requesting the virtual badge this Wednesday, September 16th.

There is still no specific date for the start of operations, but work will begin once the administrative procedures are completed.

The Board of Directors of the Municipal Parking and Projects Company (SMAP) has given initial approval to the 2026 budget, which projects total revenues of €20,250,466.78, representing a 5.35% increase compared to the previous year. Among the most noteworthy projects are the construction of the surface parking lot in the Les Maravillas area of Playa de Palma, as well as the expansion of the parking lot in Eusebi Estada and the expansion of the regulated parking (ORA) and BiciPalma bike-sharing networks. The projected expenditure for next year amounts to €20,247,304.70, resulting in a surplus of €3,162.09. The budget includes an investment of €12,774,080.45, primarily allocated to the construction of new parking facilities and the expansion and improvement of existing ones. The drafting of expansion projects for the Vía Roma and Santa Pagesa parking facilities is also planned, with a total budget of €3,125,740.82.
